This would have been an obvious buy-scenario: after a big disappoing announcement. Except for the fact that the announcement is for quite the long scale, and Nokia rely on Symbian to get to the Windows Phone start line. Clearly there'll be no good news from Nokia for at least another year.

Funny thing, looking at those wolframalpha numbers, Nokia seems to have had better revenue and a much better income to revenue ratio than Microsoft. Nokia wasn't doing so bad, really. They REALLY pissed their pants... And it wasn't even warm.

What's bothering me... the silence from Nokia. Announce something, say something, instill faith in the market... do something unless you want the price to keep dropping down to nearly nothing.

Nokia has quite consistently underdelivered on their promises the past few years (especially on releases delays... meego, etc). So I'm expecting Elop's 2012 WP7 promise to be a very safe promise that he plans to overdeliver (end of 2011).

If that's achievable, I'm expecting a Nokia WP7 phone announcement as early as summer/fall which will push up their stock price again...

And in the fairly short term, I'm expecting him to announce some favorable terms struck between them and MS that would also push up their stock prices...

I did not follow this last year, but what was the
drop in July 2010 according to:

?

Btw. Microsoft is also going down:

Just being naive: Perhaps they realize, what they have been doing?

They already said "sorry if we failed horribly yet again to communicate our message, but did you catch the part where Microsoft is going to give me... ...us billions of dollars in cash for this?" - and that didn't even pause the market. I think they'd say something if they came up with something.

Hmm I don't know about that. Only looked at articles following the NOK1V stock.

BTW, new 14 year low at €6.26.

I agree on the part where Windows Mobile was neglected, but how is the dumbphone OS WP7 even supposed to be a horse where the smartphone OS WM6.5 was a donkey?

Windows Mobile 5+ was a [not so good] smartphone platform at a time when few other phones really were smartphones. There's so many missing features in Windows Phone 7, it competes with S40... T'is pretty much run on MP3 player firmware.

I say, Windows Mobile was a tired old mare of bad breeding, but Windows Phone 7's daddy wasn't a horse at all. I think Windows Phone 7 is looking awfully much like a sterile mule here.
