(dont know if anyone has posted this already, didnt find it)

So Dualboot is going to be implemented in 1.3 to support MeeGo. Good think, sounds as if our little magic device will somehow be supported by MeeGo. Still no built-in Deathray, though.
I think you're about 247 posts late. Pay attention to the thread title!!! And read the first post.

You are as wrong as can be.

There is one third party closed driver (SGX), the rest of the closed code (which is most of maemo 5) is code by Nokia which is closed by Nokia decision.

Just to show you how stupid this claim that Nokia wants stuff open, but is forced to close by third parties:

770 - Nokia power chips - closed BME - can't be replaced.
N800 - Nokia power chips - closed BME - can't be replaced.
N810 - Nokia power chips - closed BME - can't be replaced.
N900 - TI power chips - closed BME - can be replaced, because we have all the needed information.

See the difference between Nokia and third parties?

Thank Matan for the infor. OpenSource Device.. Opensource OS but yet closed Apps and Drivers lol. How is that Opened according to GNU? Nokia is very silly. Not much we can do. Got to live with the controlled environment.

That's low. They're begging Jobs to take it for the iphone, and yet they're trying to sell it Nokia?

Some of us are Ham Radio Hobbyists.

The death of HAM is a little exaggerated. It is defiantly smaller in modern times but there are still a few million of us around the world.

Nokia always behind competitors in term of OS and hardware. Usually Nokia selling an underpowered device at higher price or equally the same as the competitors.

Eg: N97-mini is the same price as NexusOne and almost the same as Iphone4.

Specs wise Nokia got a lot of small pieces in one package but high spec wise Nokia have ARM11 and low RAM.

Not sure if N9 is going to be over the competitors when we are talking about specs and OS here. Also supporting the device may be the biggest part. Apple has world wide warranty, Droid I don't know, but Nokia is country wise warranty.

N9 will be a undoubtedly expensive and the hardware will not surpassing any devices released in the same year. Question is should we still trust in Nokia to be the early adopter of MeeGO? From Maemo5 point of view (early adopter), it left a big Question mark on my forehead.

Hmm... A8 Processor... Hmm..."?"
Ehh... what have you been smoking. The n900 was awhile the most powerful. Now you'll get most power per dollar. In Sweden you could buy the n900 for 5000 sek and the Nexus for 7000 sek. Now i think the n900 goes for 3000-3500 sek.

Apple are famous to overprice.. they normaly take double the price for what it is worth.

Or quit whining, learn assembler and write your own drivers! I don't really care if they don't want to share their code for their devices, as long as they provide current binary drivers for use.....the idea that everything has to be open source is not practical.

However, one thing confuses me a bit, what way is Nokia going to take when they now have both Symbian 3 and MeeGo. Are they going to divide their phones in two segments, where some get Symbian, and some get MeeGo. Isn't that somewhat confusing on their market focus, especially since they should keep themselves strong in the competition, iOS, Android and now Windows Mobile 7.
I'm curious about what strategy they have in mind.
Nokia has answered this in the past.

Hinted at all future N Series devices being MeeGo but that is not sure. We may see Symbian^4 on an N Series in the future

But yes Symbian and Meego will run in parallel.

Symbian 3 and 4 will continue to be a smartphone OS Nokia Meego Devices will be thought of more as pocket computers.

Having seen some Leaked images of the N9 in other threads (to be taken with a pinch of salt). The device very much looks along those lines. Think 4inch MacBook with phone functions.

If Nokia goes this way I will be very happy. This is exactly what I want from a phone. But I think I am a small user base.

Why do you think Jobs went apeshot on Adobe in the first place? Because he thought the world would be a better place if his products no longer could appeal to users who wanted to play flash games?

No. Because he didn't want to pay over and over again for updates.
