The developer assigns their own category when they submit their entry, and if it matches with the description it'll stay with that category. If it seems to be mismatched then a contest organiser etc will reach out to the developer to check it's in the right category. If it makes sense then it's all good, else the organiser will work with the developer to find a more appropriate category for it.

In regards to the wiki table, it doesn't really matter right now. It only matters when the application is submitted. So Khertan, you have plenty of time to think about where your Battle.net authenticator is best suited before it's properly submitted for judging

BTW rainisto, I notice you're quite a new member of maemo.org (Jan '12) and maybe haven't seen the previous two competitions. You seem pretty interested, and you have the skills clearly with Live-F1 and the BTinput Terminal, are you going to honor us with an entry? I hope you're thinking about it

I'm not just shamelessly begging rainisto for an entry I've also just realised that with the other device programs going on a lot of coders who entered before have new committments and mightn't have the time to enter this year. So it's important to try and get developers new to the competition on board

Hi everyone!

two new donations, by zwevert and qgil.

btw, is there a way to automatically calculate the totals in the wiki chart?
http://wiki.maemo.org/Maemo.org_Codi...ity_Prize_Fund

regarding the submission site: as it is running on a friends server, he has to set it up. I've admin rights for the installed system he wrote (contesta), but I don't have access to the server... As we want to keep the old submissions I can't simply delete all categories and set up the new ones...
So I have to wait for him to set it up. Hopefully he'll do it this week. I'm going to bug him a lot...

Yes, I have few applications under development, if they are ready within the time frame, i will submit them to the competition.

Maybe some of the participants are wondering if the recent announcements from Nokia will affect the coding competition or any other currently running device programs.

Don't worry, there won't be any problems with the devices.

Thanks for the confirmation zehjotkah, thats great to hear ^^.

Speaking of prizes, we need to confirm our bounty split - any maths whizz out there who wants to have a go at working out the shares? I'd love to get it decided over the weekend.

Oh, and btw we've been 'open' now since Monday and already have 11 users added to the participants table which is a great start! (A big thanks to marrat, Khertan, Tofe, 4ndreaSt4gi, titilambert, hiemanshu, chrm, bibek, microe, karmaflux, Shin2_D for signing up so early on). Let's hope the table keeps growing and growing over the coming weeks

Thanks kojacker. I'm relatively new to the community, but it has been a very interesting journey so far.
Looking forward to being a regular member around here.
The combination of Meego and Qt seems to be extremely tempting for me

Can I get a fre device?

I'm not a programmer, I don't have any interesting ideas for development, but I was a firm believer in what Maemo/ Meego and the N900 was all about.

With recent announcements I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. I hope this "community" and the spirit behind the device live on. Where ever it goes, or turns into I hope to be there.

I'm not pick any color would be nice.

You can earn a device in our coding competition lorul2, but I'm afraid you can't just have one for free I'm also trying to get 1 or 2 cheap devices for the group of kids I teach, if there were any free I'd already have snapped them up already lol

We have 24 devices assigned as prizes, including devices specifically for beginners, so even if you're not a programmer today you have time to become one

Honestly, if you're just not into programming then the coding competition is not the right place to ask Perhaps the 'community awards' device program would be the best place for your enquiry? However I think the deadline might have been tonight, you'd need to check that.
