I'm not sure, but I'm hoping they'll still consider a good 7-inch Galaxy Tab 2 down the road.
I bet they will. 2M sold in 4 months is nothing to sneeze at, and should certainly be worth a release.
I hope you are both right, if so then I am happy to wait.

OTOH if this is the last of the line then I shall get one asap.

My 5" Streak is wonderfully versatile so I am not in a rush otherwise.

I'm somewhat torn myself. The 8.9 seems incredibly tantilizing, but I know I would love the 7" size. I would have to use both to decide which I fancied more.

The form factor and accessory support would be also key for me. The Samsung Stick will determine which I like more.

Oh god... I'm convinced that Engadget for some reason has something against Samsung.

I'm watching the latest Engadget show (against my prior choice), and they're cutting into the Series 9 laptop and the Galaxy Tab 8.9/10.1. These are arguably two of the most significant devices for the notebook computing space and the tablet space, and their treatment of this product is simply pathetic -- the anti-samsung bias is off the charts in this episode.

Shameless...

They flat out called the Tab 7 'a peice of crap', and called Samsung the greatest KIRFer in the world.

I'm hoping for an updated 7' Tab as well. Based on what I've read, the 8.9" version will be about 6-1/4" wide. My current tablet is about 4-1/4" wide. The current tablet fits nicely in many of my pockets. With an extra ~2" there aren't many pockets I could fit the 8.9" version into.

For those people considering the Dell Streak 7, I just read something interesting over at StreakSmart:

Summary: TMob version plays nice with ATT 3G & 4G.

My major complaint re: the Streak 7 is the screen. In some videos the viewing angles were budget-laptop grade -- really, really, bad.

Yes that was a big disappointment. Dell hit a sweet spot with the Streak 5 (in so many ways) and then lost it again with the 7.

ATM the Tab is the only quality 7" contender it seems.

This is interesting software: Muvee.

It's a basic video suite that is running on a galaxy tab! This video showed basic cropping, though at ridiculous speeds (1 sec on a 1080p video).

From the Youtube description:
Muvee is a HD video editing solution on the Android operating system that lets you trim vid start/stop times, auto create transitions, mix files, and render video in seconds. We got a hands-on look at their tools running on the Samsung Galaxy Tab and we were left quite impressed as it took 1.09sec to render a 1min video. Take a look for yourself
If you go to the site, you notice that the software is quite full featured.

This looks fantastic, and great for tablet video editing!

I'm really stoked about this software!

I do love the performance of the Streak 7; Tegra 2 at lower res is a potent mix. I also really like the price; at $449 is great. It's just that screen that makes it a no-go for me -- terrible viewing angles and 800x480 on a 7".

This is really neat!

Xoom has a built-in timelapse mode. Here's a video of it in action:
