However I think I shall put my wallet down and wait for the HTC 7" Flyer.

The specs are much more appealing, aluminium body, 1.5 GHz processor (not sure if it has Tegra though) and 1G RAM. Also I prefer to have a HTC device over Samsung

I am sorry if this is old news but I only pop by from time to time. And each time the Thread has grown by 20 pages, too fast for me to catch up.

I guess I have answered my own question regarding the future for 7" tablets. It looks good.
No apologies needed, brother! Your posts are always welcome and enjoyed!

The HTC Flyer is looking extremely good, and I too am interested in it. It seems to have a 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor in it. If it's the same as the MSM8660 w/ Adreno 220, then I'm sold on the performance. EDIT: I'm quite sure that it's not the MSM8660, as I now recally that the Flyers SoC has a single-core.

The pen input looks to be a killer feature for me, though it depends on how it's implemented. I do however, love the form of the Tab 8.9" and the Samsung Stick (bluetooth handset), so it's a toss up.

I try to post so that you can just read headlines, if you're interested in Android news, so feel free to quickly glance back a few pages to catch up on whats generally happening.

EVE online has been reportedly seen running on a Tegra 2 Android tablet:

It seems that PC developers are increasingly finding a home on Android these days.

Let the good times roll.

Here's more info on the Xperia unlocked-bootloader option:

http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/develo...2-smartphones/

Way to Go SE. This line of devices just shot up in the rankings of most wanted devices.

Could this be a new trend? We could see custom and homebrew OSs, much more frequently on these devices.

This is interesting:

http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/31/a...t-buy-for-400/

The Asus EEE transformer is only $400 at best buy!

What's most interesting?
It has an IPS display. This is so unlike ASUS, that has a reputation for terrible notebook displays.

Other notable features:
- 3G radio built in (as reported by some other sites)
- Detachable keyboard for netbook like usage

The price is extremely competitive, but I predicted this, right? PC manufacturers are very price-competitive, and will surely usher in the era of mid-end tablets. I'd say that ASUS and Acer will lead this charge.

Just got an Xperia Arc. I wish I was able to buy the n9, but nokia never gave me the chance. Will see what they give me at the end of this year.

Very nice with auto focus on camera plus the way to presenting mail is the best I have seen. Still want a meego phone with keyboard. Where is the n9:n!

I have several issues with this. 1) I disagree with their assessment that it's legal. It was never illegal to start with and I feel a certain amount of contempt toward customers from any company that keep insisting that it's illegal or even tries to muddy the waters by suggesting it. 2) I dislike that I have to provide them with my device's identification just to unlock my device. They should provide me with a way to do it that doesn't require identification--otherwise it goes back to point 1 in addition to the idea that the company won't let me truly own my own device once I've purchased it because they're tracking it one way or another. 3) How do I know what else that bootloader is doing if I have to identify my device to them?

I could go on and get deeper with this. I'm very skeptical after reading the details.

I kept thinking that when Amazon put out their own Android store, to avoid the lawsuit with Apple, they really should have just named their store "Soft Serve" (software). It would have fit in with the Android confection/snack naming scheme even.

Unfortunately, if they stipulate in the purchase license that it is illegal to unlock a device, I would bet that it would be possible for them to argue that it is indeed. I'm not familiar with the muddy waters of the law, but IP law seems especially murky.

I would have to read the bootloader-modification license to determine if its free enough. The contract may just restrict re-distribution of a modified bit of electronics under a new trademark, which could be a formalized statement compatible with nearly every finalized device on the market. Of course it could also be much more sinister. The actual license will reveal all, I'm sure.

PS. I know nothing of the law.
