I'm sorry for that, I pushed 0.17.1maemo1 fixing the problem on extras-dev yesterday.
So, now when Wagic starts, it will try to check if there is a resource package update by connecting to internet if the network is available. Unfortunately because of Qt, network is systematically signaled as available, so if you're offline, the N900 will ask you to connect to something, just cancel it and it will work completely offline.
This resource file is currently http://wagic.googlecode.com/files/core_0171.zip it needs to be stored in /home/user/MyDocs/.Wagic/core.zip at least once. You can perfectly store it from your PC and have Wagic always work totally offline. But if you do that, you might miss some resource update we could push with card fixes and stuff.
Normally, Wagic only connects once at start-up to compare the hash of its local resource file to the hash of the remote resource file. If they are the same it continues offline.
