first for speedpatch :
look at this link
this guy is more skill full than me

http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=271

and if you checked the thread you would find many members satisfied with it

second i wouldn't create a thread if am not sure what am i doing

third IMO i think the people who are complaining are just having problems with it (compatibility thing) i still cannot figure out why

in-short : if you are not having the famous xterminal problem then you are fine
and keep using speedpatch

PS: if you want you can try the full removal script
and test your N900 without speedpatch
you will notice differences

AS FOR ME : the main improvements are with : Hildon-desktop (this includes mulitasking, launching and smoothness)
transmission app (will not hang up the whole phone anymore)
TOR ( the log menu scroll is faaar improved)
and many many other different things

now for batterypatch
if you are using KP49
you will have to edit /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/overclock
and delete 750 and change 700 to 720
and you will be fine
of course you can try your different settings according to your needs
(btw i will update batterypatch next weak) testing something new

that's it

/karam
i think yes

/EDIT

i have checked the previous page and saw some questions:

@luketanti

you need to edit overclock and there should be no problems

@ALL

next weak i will release a new update for batterypatch that will include the latest config to KP 49

/EDIT2 ;
btw i'm using both patches with the latest freemangordon build

this is very normal

you can try other mediaplayer than the stock one
some of them doesn't cause lag
ex: wikiplayer (from ovi store)
rockbox (but not very noob friendly)

and some others
No, it does not happen usually. In fact it should never happen for stock mediaplayer. If you look at original Nokia cgroup configuration you will see there is a "Multimedia"(or something like that) group. Your "patch" throws that setup through the window.

And I really will appreciate if you describe (not in short) what your "patch" is doing. I don't want to be offensive but my six sense is telling me that your "patch" is solving problems introduced by it.

So, will you please describe what exactly it does(without redirecting to what Linus or someone else have said). In such a way that everyone with some technical background to be able to understand. Thanks.

if i understand correctly, everyone agrees then that the batterypatch is valid and working in kp49, really improving battery life...right?
the issue here is only speedpatch...is that it?
i guess we all speedpatch useres would apreciate this being cleared, will all the best respect for both karam, and kp49 develloping guys work..

@ed_boner
yes that 's true

@freemangordon
cgroup_patch (called speedpatch) here is based on testing, testing only
there are many *different explanations* for it on many sites

now some may agree and some other may not
but the best detailed explain is on this
http://maemo.org/packages/view/speedpatch/

you might have seen that already
and you are saying that nokia has already applied the patch in /sysparts

now the patch moves every thing from /sysparts and put it in /dev/cgroup
and also adds a new folder called *user*
still nothing new or nothing that improves any thing

BUT
the known thing about cgrouping is every launched application app from xterm get cgrouped only (am i right ?)
that code is pasted in .bashrc and .porfile (it directs it to .bashrc)
i did that for 2 reasons

1: putting those codes in .profile only doesn't clean up cgroups
2: any bash users gets the benefets of cgrouping

now why does cgroup patch feels more smoother ?

here's why
i connected N900 on early ssh (enabled it from kernel-power-settings)
and i have seen that hildon-desktop and some other startup programs
launches the codes that are posted in .profile ---> .bashrc
also tested that with some crashing codes and i had to reflash (that proved me that the codes in .profile are launched at the startup)

and ... hildon-desktop is in somehow cgrouped by cgrouping patch

that's the best conclusion i got to
so far

keep up your good work karam.. waiting for your kp v49 patch.. your patch is very good in v47.. i think the lag is due to kp v49..

well visN900

my point is that N900 is more smoother when mediaplayer is not running

i didn't mean that KP49 has that problem

@trisha02
you cannot play 720p without te dsp libs
do as Minhaz said
