No, that's because you don't pay Finnish VAT - they should charge that in Switzerland, if they notice ;-)

Can't find the source, but I saw a picture with the phone at 299€ at some point in the past - maybe it was a display phone, which would make sense.

The article actually refers to 'Sailfish 1.0' as presented at MWC in Barcelona, so in that sense there has been a couple of weeks to wake up the interests.

I had not bought my Jolla yet, because they say that they can't discount me the VAT so I can pay it in Spain, as Intracomunitarian laws (for business, not individuals) say. Also there isn't spanish qwerty keyboard yet... I'm waiting with my N900 I hope it arrive to some european distributors... After some mounts of first launch a depreciation is logic...

I'm a bit dubious about that as well. I can't imagine Ohijärvi having too big of a influence on direct sales. At best this could mean that the statement is linked to those partnerships, that would be some major operators or retailers and Jolla finally selling the phone in China.

Actually outside of that I can't understand how the demand could increase so much in the coming months.
It all just smells like an attempt to beat things up in the media again, they have plenty of form doing that, & gotten burnt just about every time (eventually) for doing so.
Lets see if it's more than hot air, I'm sick of hot air, I want to see quite big announcements, not continued hints of big announcements, or announcements that aren't "big".

I suspect that it is all related to the 'non-beta' 1.0.4.20 release. And indeed was the driver for it.

I'd suspect that various potential partners had said that they clearly could not go forward with a beta OS (since the mass market is unlikely to warmly welcome such a thing), and so stipulated that any future partnerships depended on the OS being out of beta.

So Jolla take Sailfish out of beta, everyone is happy, and they announce some imminent partnership announcements ...

Trouble is that simply saying that Sailfish is no longer beta doesn't quite cut it; it's a semantic trick. Don't get me wrong. Ohijärvi is a great release. Does a lot of good things under the cover and they've clearly been working very hard. But it still doesn't seem quite ready for the mainstream, and I can't help thinking that potential partners (who, let us remember, are not the bleeding edge fans that seem to make up the predominant Jolla user base) are going to be able to see that and, unlike those fans, will be unwilling to make allowances.

I really hope I'm wrong, though.

If there are partnership to come, they probably have access as well to a roadmap.
Partners are not foolish, if they sign, it is because they expect to sell phones. And they are testing the phone before signing anything!
So I would not worry but be glad instead
Either partners are happy of the current version or at least happy enough with the roadmap at sight.

But this is the whole point. So far they haven't. And all we have is an announcement of an announcement. And, as jalyst pointed out earlier, we've seen claims about potential partnerships in the past, which then turned out to be nothing.

I hope it is different this time.

Thank you for the clarification. As I do not speak Finnish I am at a bit of a disadvantage. But, my impressions is that a reasonable translation is:

Eh man, Everythin's cool. Like, beta's history.
Bin inkin' deals. Probably got over 100K in the can.
So, everybody chill.

The battery life has really started to annoy me. It about halved after Ohijärvi update, and now I have to recharge it after work if Im gonna have a long evening.Yeah, its roughly same as other smartphones, but excellent battery life was one of the unique traits of Jolla...
