Same problem here. I am not sure though if it's because it crashed during retrieving the album art. Does it need to finish before it saves the already retrieved album art?

Love the work you guys are doing! I am sure once you solved the main bugs it will be a much better player than the standard one!

That's really why Nokia is so disappointing. How can they compete with app store if they keep doing those kind of crap apps?

Eagerly waiting for the next OVI update for this app. I am forced to stop using the current version for the past two days... very slow and stuttering audio... but, stuttering audio is very common issue with N900.. Phew... I just want Multimedia apps and the browser work well in N900.. I can certainly live with other issues...

We're testing a variety of solutions to the speed problem. BTW, if anyone has experience with memory overlays, or in general dealing with data sets that are far larger than what memory can accommodate that gracefully (and quickly) accept inserts, deletes and sorts please reach out to me at peter at instinctiv. I'll fill you in on the details over email/im. If not, don't worry guys, we have a number of good solutions just none that we can implement super fast. Thanks for hanging in there!

While you get all that^ sorted you might want to add some small indicator that the program is working. Perhaps a "Pop Tart" announcing it is retrieving art work or building the DB.
A small animation of a disc spinning on end would do the trick too.

A lot of the resistance you may see with people attempting to adopt this as a new player may be from folks who think the thing has crashed while it is performing those functions.

Also, how does it determine what art to use. That is, does it look for embedded art first and use that?
If none is found will it look for a "folder" or "cover" file in the directory before going out to search for it?
Is there a default image if none of the above are found?
Can the art be changed by the user later?

Nice start BTW.

FWIW, the player is crashing on every WMA lossless file I have tried.

hey Peter, it's been a few days, any update? Leaving for holidays soon, would love to have a usable version to take with me

One thing: 'consistent' Cover caching doesn't work, it reloads all cover art after restart which always takes a bit of time. May be get the player to store image files in the corresponding music folders to allow quicker caching times?

Eagerly awaiting your next release

I have never ever been able to get it to play on instinctive shuffle.. I always get the analyzing error...

Will it ever stop or does it just not get a mood map if there are songs it doesn't know? I have a lot of weird danish underground punk mp3's that I guess you don't know about, but it could just not play those I guess..
