Last I checked, that would be a good thing. Guess turning this shitstorm into something positive is just above some folks.

Keep complaining then... carry on.
what about waiting for the actual firmware? what are the odds that you can find something that has been overlooked? rumours say that the newest "RC" is about 16-xx so there is no way knowing what has been fixed and what not.

there is no realistic way turning leaked old fw to gold. (except showing why patience is a virtue)

of course you could start quessing but my guess is that there isn't enough people who are willing to do bugreporting among those who have installed the fw in the first place.

Regardless... why not treat this as a glimpse of what's to come, what's being worked on still and what needs to happen before PR1.2 comes out instead of the constant finger-wag by some of the members. That's getting boring.
True, no point stating foolish and such. If yes, perhaps buying N900 is already a foolish move to suffer all these problems. N900 is unique and opens up to many possibilities. When one chooses the N900, there's many things to learn and things to do. Whatever one chooses to do that is risky (be it overclocking, flashing firmware, flashing to MeeGo, flashing to Android, etc), it's the person's choice and risk to take, lessons to learn, experience to gain, etc.

If there is problem, then it's the person's choice and mistake, lessons to be learn, experience to gain, etc. What's the point of calling someone foolish and so on? Instead, those that have help to fix the problem actually helps the person and also learns in the other way round. Calling someone foolish gains nothing but self relieve or just to please one self.

A lot of folks are waiting... but it's real funny how people were asking to be testers of the PR1.2, they "get a chance" via a leak (I don't agree with it) but hell... it's better than nothing.

What exactly would be wrong with actually contributing instead of just blindly waiting? Don't want to shape the future of your beloved platform? Don't want to find a problem? Just want to sit back and complain when PR1.2 still somehow misses some stuff that could have been caught the first time, instead of forcing yet another protracted wait for PR1.2.1 or PR1.3?

Seriously. What's so wrong with adding some bug reports? And (I think it was) olddognet (or something like that) was the one that reported that the leak was 4 weeks behind, and possibly further behind the HK N900.

It's not about turning that leak into gold. No way. But hell, if they jumped the gun, why not say "Hey, it's good, but I see this as a problem..." and if it's fixed in the final, so be it. If it's not, then what?

Wait again? Meh. I get what you're saying, patience is indeed a virtue. You're talking to the dude that's waiting for the N900 to get more right than wrong in regards to what I want... as opposed to jumping the gun when it was totally a whole "ooh, shiny shiny" affair when it came out.

Yet, I'm trying to say "Add to the bug reports since now Nokia just got quite a few more beta-testers" - which... they should have been doing this whole damn time imho.

Guess trying to make the platform better via the community is only my own stupid wish. I get the hint...

- Conversations Inbox Widget (won't load to desktop)
- Conversations don't seem to be saving
- Dataplan Monitor Widget doesn't seem to be calling on any data. Suspects the 2 new monitors under (settings->phone) are cause.

Everything else works for me. Haven't messed with it too much though, other than need a hard media library reset which is understandable with firmware updates.

Yea let's delay 1.2 some more so we can hunt for trivial bugs that might be fixed already... Sounds like a good plan to me!

They should just release it if the HK version is already out with 1.2

Can anybody pinpoint when they said it would absolutely be released?

Flashing to the future P1.2RC, will it be necessary to uninstall menu altering apps like Catorise or the apps that add to the status menu?

When I flashed mine, I didn't uninstall any apps. Catorize was installed previously, but now its not there and has not affected the new menu system as far as I can tell.

Agreed with your point

While I understand those who did not flash the leaked firmware and gloat over those who did and faced problems, I still feel that the name-calling or humiliating part in this thread is a bit uncalled for, childish at best.

No offense intended though. I'd rather see this thread developing into everyone trying to help those who are facing issues. And those who faced issues shared their experiences and warn the rest on the dangers of flashing leaked firmwares.

Isn't that makes a better forum atmosphere?
