The settings above work for me....... (it won't delete mail from the server though)

I was getting the same message (socket error disable ssl or something like that)

what I did before it started working

removed sdcard, power cycled wireless router, rebooted

My guess is the router, but I would rather be lucky than good.

YRMV Good luck

Well, after being frustrated no matter what email application I used, I figured it is just a Gmail problem.
I went back to my trusty Fastmail account, and all is well.
Goodby, Gmail. ;-)

Dang.
hi,
I was having the same problem. I had to enable POP in gmail, then it worked fine. Hope this helps you too.

i have what might be a dumb question about the built in client , is there anyway to check all acounts at once without having to go into the menu ? i dont want to have to do that , i want both my email addresses refreshed at the same time

Well this is maddening. I had it working yesterday for 4 or 5 test emails. Now it is doing the show the Headers but never download the messages if I try to access one. So I figured I would try something silly...changed incoming advanced settings from "Header Only" to "Message" and it worked. For ONE message. Now it's back to the old bad behaviour. Strange.

Has this issue been resolved yet? This and the maps are the only two things thats holding me back from enjoying my n810 fully.

I've also tried modest using the same settings but it wont go through for some reason. Also I noticed, is it normal to have two email labeled apps after downloading modest? or am I supposed to have one built in client labeled EMAIL and one labeled MODEST.

Modest 17-2 is functional with gmail again. Yes you end up with two icons that say Email, kinda annoying but as long as they are in different folders it's not bad.

What problem with maps are you having?

US maps download issues but its been resolved. Found the link for the maps in one of the threads in here.

I'll go ahead and give modest another try. Should I delete my account settings for the built in client when I have modest installed? Like I mentioned earlier, it wasn't letting me connect. I dont remember the exact error.

This may a stupid question but i will aks it anyway.
Did you go into gmail setting / fowarding and pop imap/ and enable either pop or imap and save changes?

This would be on the gmail account itself on the internet after you log on.

My Gmail works fine with standard client on the device and the settings posted here. I'm using pop instead of imap though.
