Ulysses

you do have python2.5 installed?

If you have xterm installed run from the command line and post the results.

The app installs fine both ways, the problem is launching it.

I just found out that if I run it from the command line, everything is fine.

The problem, thus, is with the app entry in the menu (Extras).

Hope this helps.

Strange I've Just uninstalled and re-installed on my N800 and all works as you would expect. I must dig out my 770 and try on there. I must admit to no yet trying it on the 770 I just assumed that with it being a python pro that as long as you had 2.5 installed it would work.

The DaTable.services file has been corrupted somehow. This is not just a 770 thing anyone installing for the first time will have this problem. If you are Ok with gainroot and editing system files then file
Code:
/usr/share/dbus-1/services/DaTable.service
has been corrupted. It will look like :
Code:
[
-BUS Service]
Name=net.rcull.DaTable
Exec=/usr/bin/datable
and should look like :-
Code:
[D-BUS Service]
Name=net.rcull.DaTable
Exec=/usr/bin/datable
Otherwise wait a while I'll get another package out soon.

Rick,

I think I'm missing the correct link for datable. The last link I saw was https://garage.maemo.org/frs/downloa...-0.0.6.all.deb
and it loads ver 0.0.6. You mentioned beta version 0.1 so I tried https://garage.maemo.org/frs/download.php/3286/datable-0.1.0.all.deb but it seems to install 0.0.6 too. ??

Any clues appreciated.

Thank you,
Frank
I see I see I get the picture now. Rather than running down garage.maemo.org through /frs/download.php.... you go to
https://garage.maemo.org/projects/datable/

Thanks for your help.

https://garage.maemo.org/frs/downloa...-0.1.1.all.deb

Just a fix for the corrupted service file. Should now open from the menu.

Absolutely love this - I will be using this more than probably any other program on my N800 for organizing contacts, keeping record of expenses, daily log, etc.

One wish list item - the ability to have the records display descending - maybe by clicking on the column head? Or a settings choice?

Keep up the great work!

Related, but slightly off topic... Do you have tips & hints from your recent experience in packaging a python application into a deb? I have an application I wish to package, and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to do it -- I've RTFM but still things do not work quite how I expect.

Any hints/suggestion would be appreciated!
