look like windows 2000 but more themes are available to make it look like whatever you want.

it's VERY fast, I enjoyed it on my n800, everything included seems to work, I used a usb keyboard to mess around in ICEWM and all if fine.

it's a LOT faster than KDE, a LOT smaller but doesn't have all the goodies PenguinBait included in KDE.

I think people should give it a try and experienced linux users should try to add stuff and polish this windows manager.

THANK YOU PB

I am all ears...

You've got ideas? I want to hear em. More tools? More Themes? A real browser would be nice? I do love links -g though, for some things. Are there any good alternatives to microb? is firefox still a cpu killer?

Just FVWM2, and as you said, we've already got (e)links.
What more could a man want... (Well, I'd like dillo, too; I'd especially like if dillo development hadn't been stalled due to insufficient funding.)

I will try to add xkbd tonight but yes, a better browser would be nice; links is a bit limited... may be Fenec everybody is talking about...

a nicer file manager not limited to what Nokia want us to see...

I guess all the app from maemo can run on icewm so it's already a very good start.

I love what is available in KDE but ICEWM is so fast on the n8x0; that only is making it a lot more desirable than other WM. Also it got the ability to look like MS windoze and will make some people more familiar and may even be a selling point for the IT.

I'm just starting to built a better OS based on your ICEWM.

as it was said before, people with n800 must use a usb keyboard as the PB icewm don't have a screen keyboard.... yet

simple but 9 years old...

Changes file
29 january 99: just some few modifications to make sfm gtk+ 1.1 compliant (well, in fact, to make it compile

Has managing files changed in the past 9 years?

(Yes, I know it may need some tweaking to build against modern gtk+)

export PATH="/usr/bin:/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin"

/usr/bin/icewm-session

/usr/local/bin/startmaemo

I'm not 100% sure this is the proper solution, but it does fix the problem for me.
it's not a solution on my n800 still got a blue screen (of death) after logout...

anyway, Xkbd work but I need to find the config files for ICEWM as I can't find where to add xkbd to the menu. I also added the USBmouse.deb; now I also have full control with the mouse pointer and the usb keyboard. (found it, added menu entry for xkbd)

The OEM Matchbox windows manager look painfuly slow when compared to ICEWM.

is "startmaemo" a script or a real way to restart maemo when we logout of ICEWM ?

I am not sure, I recompiled XFCE 4.4.2 last night, and I am having a few probs I need to fix, but the menu just found all the hildon apps, I didn't even have to di anything. Kinda nice.

Anyway, I think I may merge ICEWM and XFCE and put out one install which gives you both, but I am still playing. It would save me some time from recompiling xterm bash and many other tools.

Anyway, we'll see what happens.

I am thinking an XFCE 4.4.2 release is in the not to distant future.
