Scrabbler, it'd be interesting to see if you deleted USB modem and tried to connect natively.
I agree. Especially since I can connect using the same phone using an old 770, a Mac and a PC with no problem. It's definitely an issue that's unique to Diablo.

well if it is a Diablo specific problem, then at least it could be a quick over the air fix.

I am a new member and new N800 owner, but I have had palm smartphones forever.

Isn't the whole point in getting a 3rd party app like USBmodem or PDAnet - to mask the data from the N800 (or laptop) so that to your mobile provider it appears that the data came from the phone?

For my plan with US:Sprint, I have an unlimited data plan for all data coming from my Treo 755p. But if anything links to that phone, I believe I am charged 2cents ($0.02) per KB. Those pennies add up.

Again, I am a newbie - but am I missing the point? Do some of you not get charged a PAM (Phone as modem) charge?

Hi WildCard... That is what I thought as well, I recently converted my plan and retained my Unlimited Data plan with additions, for a more economical all inclusive package.. The PCS tech told me that the bluetooth connection was all that was needed to pair to the Nokia N800. It connects for a second then disconnects. He suggested to get hold of Nokia.. This was the same PCS Technician that paired my N800 with my Centro when I bought it... Thanks for your thoughts... Don

It appears that USBmodem for Palm OS is on sale for just today for $9.95. You can do it for free supposedly on many phones, but this configures everything and masks the fact that you are using your phone as a modem.

$10 is pretty cheap insurance.

Saw this on slickdeals.com:

I think you guys need to troubleshoot one step at a time. It seems the original post indicates that the phone and N800 can't be paired. That is a bluetooth issue whether due to the phone update or the Diablo update. A bluetooth connection to the phone should be able to be created independent of whatever data plan the user has, or how they are connecting to the cellular network.

Thanks leedog77, that does make sense. My Palm Centro immediatly paired with my Garmin GPS, last night, without any intention of pairing from me.. Don
