RTComm basically sucks. They've not updated it on the current platform in ages, it wouldn't connect to Yahoo, doesn't support voice in its current iteration and what I've been shown so far, Nokia has to really pull it together for me to believe in and use RTComm.

And add Skype voice to the mix. Would love to add video to the mix - that's not there either.

Install libpurple0 in extras-devel. Yahoo connects just fine and you're wrong, they are still updating it.

Meh. I read the lengthy wait(s) and long workarounds. Let's put it this way...

I'm happy the fixes worked for you. Search, I was left out in the cold for a few days and that turned me off. I would not want something like that to be in the hands of the mainstream, so I went elsewhere.

It's my prerogative to do so. It's yours to support the fixes that suit your needs. Having it bomb on me for as long as it did and the workaround was some obscure download is counter-intuitive to something that actually wants to be mainstream.

The updates? Where? The beta went from 2.3 to 2.7, right? And you still have to download the most recent libpurple, right?

I don't like to jump through that many hoops all of the time and the updates don't reflect what you just said. You have to admin your machine to do that. And most people simply don't take the time to admin their machine.

Bah. Nevermind. Whatever I say will invariably be ignored. Glad the fixes worked for you. Search... they didn't work for me initially. I had to wait over a month for something to finally work.

That's too long.

And it still doesn't support video or Skype. No update for that either.

Neither does Nimbuzz.

This wasn't a conversation about mainstream vs. hardcore, but anyways... the RTCOMM updates in the future will be a lot easier to deal with since they should be much more deeply integrated than they were on OS2008.

Nimbuzz supports Skype voice. RTComm doesn't - not in its present iteration.

Want screenshots? And since it's on an iPhone - it invariably won't support video... no forward facing camera like the N900.

I think you're grossly missing the point. There's room for improvement on what's already out there. Add video where you can. Add features that consolidate why I should use one app over the other.

It hasn't happened yet. Thus... my request.

Seeing Scalado PhotoFlow in Nokia 5800 reminds me that there is free software available for the Linux Desktop that will compose panoramic pictures for you (but can't remember names of projects). Perhaps the engine can be kept and work the UI to make it really simple?

I can tell the N900 camera pulls you to take pictures from any wide impressive horizon.

some of the features from nokia photo browser would be cool like the face recognition and magnifying glass http://betalabs.nokia.com/betas/view...-photo-browser

since its a "wish for something":

- notifications should stay on the service area (in the videos i just saw notification "panels" while in the dashboard but no icons), you might just confirmed the panel but didnt really see the event (damn my english isnt sufficiant enough to explain). just say "you pressed to get rid of a call notification but didnt confirm the notification youll see a small phone symbol. if you press on it, youll get straigh to the call management"

- a option (its a small app ) which anables the phone to work automatically as an usb Modem while plugged in via usb.
in the USB settings as an extra "USB modem -> enabled [ ] (<=checkbox)" evertime you plug in the usb and had choosen "enable" before the the device gets a modem. if not chosen "enable" nothing happens. to not have you install it on every PC you have, the usb modem routinese for usb connection are on den Maemo5 device "autorun"

-an easy way to disconnect mobile data transfer. if connected to the net via 3G/GSM, just have also the option "disconnect" and the connection dies...no update for allways on software (widgets, mail, IM). now if you press a applications needs to go online, say checking/sending emails, the application prompts "app needs connection, allow: yes no". after retrieving/sending, updating content (facebook goes online, checks "updates on news frm friends or statuses?" gets them, if nothing changes connection isnt needed) the internet connection is killed automatically

-a data log and volume alert, though the mobile networks wont like it. a application tracks the data on a monthly basis and also warns if a data volume is reached. you can adjust, say : my upload/download limit for a month are 50MB, after this youll just go to the application and see your usage. also it should possible to set different levels of warning, depends on how cautious you are and if you want these steps, example: you just want one step so you just adjust it to "warm me if its 5MB to limit", if you are more cautios just add annother level. warning 1 :20 MB to limit...warning 2: 5MB. with priority setting. 1 a small notice 2 a fullpage warning 3. everytime you connect to the net a notice "659KB combined left..still want to connect?"
short how the app should work for alerts.
1) Set limit : upload [ ], download [ ], combined [ X ] (because most of the networks limit up and download, but maybe yours limits just uoloading or downloading)
2) set alert. alert at [ 5 ] [ MB ] priotity [ 2 ] tab:"add "
3) time [ monthly ] day [ 15 th ] (so it goes to zero every month on the 15th

for the log. you can see you monthly upload, download, combined....for eyecandy some statistics in curves or solid bars. daily basis, week, month year. and just for the fun of it how many webpages,mp3 (at 4MB), videos (full mpeg2 600MB or youtube average 15MB? dont know the number). it would have been. logs in a transferable text only format

well if i could wirthe just one line of code i would try, but since i cant i wish for smth like that.... other people would charge money for it but i wouldnt, just for the fun of it ^-^"

- browser option to send out an mobile browser ID...so if a web page has a mobile version, it automatically gets loaded. pre select can still me standard desktop ID but, if you want to safe some MB it would help

- a option for the picutre viewer "addjust to with". a picture can expand to the fullscreen with, if its bigger in length youll scroll. basic intention : reading Mangas...some selfish aspect

-RDS radio with good interface

-a bluetooth application for full access to other BT devices, to retrieve available information/data. (had seen smth similar on a samsung phone ads was instantly fascinated. just select all images etc and pull them on your phone, well after you provided access and linked both phones...security aspects)

- folder view : ie. picture viewer ->pictures->options->sort pictures-> show all, sort date, sort name, sort entered*, sort folders, sort tags*, sort geo tag*

music doenst need folder view...its called Album

*=not that important

like said....those are wishes/hopes etc.
