Due to heavy drain on my gmail-imap settings, I have just setup the Nokia messaging. I just got an email saying it is a trial but no further information. Anyone know how this trial works in US?

Does this work with Yahoo as well?

What happens after the trial?

As your trial nears its end, we will send you a reminder. If you do not want to purchase a subscription, simply allow the trial period to end. We will notify you when the period ends, and we will cancel your Nokia Messaging account. You will not be billed for the service and you will not have to do anything.

Enjoy your mobile email!

Nokia sent me an email after I created the account. That was a blurb from the bottom of the email. Here's the full email:

Thank you for trying Nokia Messaging! This email message contains important information about the service.

Costs of the service

During the trial, there is no cost for the Nokia Messaging service itself. However, data traffic will be charged according to your current operator service plan and may not be included in your flat data rate plan. Please contact your operator to know how much you will be charged.

Get the most up to date client

If you signed up for Nokia Messaging directly from your phone, please upgrade your software. The updated version allows you to view emails in HTML, supports Windows Live Hotmail, allows you to set up multiple email addresses, and is a lot faster!

Using your phone browser, visit http://email.nokia.com and click the download button.

NOTE: No upgrade is necessary for E75, E72 and E55 phones.

Yep, I got the same email from Nokia as above ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Before I start growing on this service and spend time setup different email accounts, do we have an idea on how expensive this will be? Other options seem to http://www.nuevasync.com/ for Google only ...

The email also says something about service provider charging us for the service. I am with ATT/TMo with unlimited data plan in US and assume it will not be applicable.

Ugh, either my phone is messed up or this still doesn't work 100% even after "kickstarting" the email app. About half the day today it was refreshing itself but I just looked now and it hasn't refreshed for an hour and a half (I have a 30 min interval)

I setup my gmail and yahoo with Nokia messaging this morning. I have been pleased with the performance so far. You might want to give that a try.

This problem affects me, too. My annoying semi-solution is to disconnect from the internet after it checks the mail. The "connect automatically every 30 mins" option seems to be more reliable than the "update mail every 30 mins" one, and fortunately my email updates every time my phone connects to the internet if the email's "update automatically" setting is for the same time as the internet's setting.

So it goes like this:

Disconnect from the internet - wait 30 mins - hear the "bing" to know the phone connected to the internet - give it a minute to allow the email to realize it needs to update - see if I got new email - disconnect from the internet.

Annoying, but it kind of works for me. I'm also thinking about setting up Mail for Exchange on my phone with my gmail account. I think I read somewhere that it works, but haven't tried it yet.

I canceled my initial account after finding out that it might not be free forever. I went back to create another one and now their sign up page is down again with a different error. Sheesh. They really don't want me signing up for it.

30 minutes interval works best for my gmail and any other mails.... with longer interval looks like phone goes for some "sleep" mode and doesnt update mails, dunno if its a bug or what, same goes for nokia messaging or any other mail accounts.
