Yes you can. Use XP mode (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/vir.../download.aspx) as described in the option 3 of the wiki (http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware). (I use this method under W7 64-bit Ultimate and works fine)

Actually option 1 of the said wiki might be a better method, though I haven't tried it (have xp-mode installed already):

"Disabling signed driver detection is done by choosing the option "Boot without checking for signed drivers" (or something similar) in the boot-menu. To display the boot-menu press the "F8" key as soon as the windows boot process starts. The rest of the process is similar to XP. "

Problem is you must install Virtual pc and then ubuntu so there is no clear instructions for a noob to reflash using 64bit.
This was already discussed many times on this forum and nobody as yet that i know of has clear instructions how to flash using 64bit W7, so if you have please tell everybody.

I am looking for the post from someone that got so far and could not get past the flashing prompt so he gave up and did it from a 32bit xp.
It still seems a bit vague as it says in the beggining it is only available to certain versions of W7 he believes, oh well i really DO hope this is in fact possible and can clearly be written up on here.
Incidently i am sure the publisher on youtube is a user on this forum lol.

guys i watched this video. i do this all the same but it doesn't work.

is it normal that when i attach my nokia n900 with holding u i hear a beep like attaching a usb-stick or any other usb device.

i just can't figure out what i'm doing wrong.

although i haven't found out yet about the "not checking drivers" option. when i press f8 when booting i get a list with my hd, external hd, cd drive etc.

can anyone explain please?

Ever heard of a linux live cd? Those can run in VirtualBox. No need to reboot to a different OS or run to another computer that has an outdated operating system. First you said it couldn't be done and now you're trying to say it's harder this way.

XP mode in windows 7 is only available in Pro or Ultimate editions. VirtualBox runs on anything...
