Anyone want to pay for some MWKN adwords?

I'll also take an action to update the "staying up-to-date with MWKN" document and publish it on mwkn.net. For example, you can also get new editions pushed to your inbox by subscribing to mwkn-subscribers.

Isn't the Community SSU still officially in the "testing" phase? I'd be inclined to not publish it to maemo.org/whatever channel until it's considered "stable". It just seems too early to fully advertise it if we're not yet comfortable moving it into the stable area, and therefore MWKN and t.m.o seem to be the appropriate place to announce it at this point.

People can be either passive or assertive in how they approach information. I really don't know what we can do to help anyone who won't take a little time to periodically check obvious sources for updates... but suggestions are of course certainly welcome.
You dismissed the problem at hand by claiming that it's fixed and done with, and didn't really offer any information on how to accomplish the solutions proposed in this thread.

First, as I'd pointed out--I'm here a lot, I get SOME emails about maemo and I don't check maemo.org's site much because.. well, you have to admit that it's almost ENTIRELY forgotten to talk to N8x0 owners, so even I didn't know about MWKN and clearly most of my family, friends and colleagues didn't know either. The 'if you didn't bother to look' defense is annoying. It's reminiscent of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, for crying out loud. Even the desktop Linux distributions realize that you NOTIFY people with a.."NOTIFIER".. right on the desktop--the very thing they're providing to you as a product. Why can't Tableteer be used to simply notify the community of 770/N8x0 users that there IS progress, instead of letting them stew in an orphaned state and possibly lose them as an audience to something better supported by someone who DOES care elsewhere?

Secondly, if you don't really know what you can do why not start by asking the very users of those products for ideas? Hell, you might even go back and read some of our posts right here in this thread. I suspect we floated at least a couple of ideas, one of which--I was told--was a good idea (how about getting TABLETEER to notify users about updates to their experience.. like it was INTENDED TO ORIGINALLY).

As far as the content that's already out there on MWKN, it doesn't even address this specific AUDIENCE's interest in their product. If we only have a 770/N800/N810/N810WE, all the N900 and Maemo5 and probably even the Meego banter is terribly irrelevant and off-putting to filter through. As I'd said earlier, there's only a 'Devices' section and nothing more specific than that. That's an incredible oversight.

Would one need to talk to someone at Nokia in order to get the now outdated and non-functional Tableteer repurposed?

Dan. I didn't dismiss it at all. I just really don't understand why this is a problem, and as for proposals, I haven't seen anything that *I* can personally perform.

To Geneven's issue, he asked why MWKN wasn't published here, I pointed out that it was. I was sincere and I don't see the sarcasm that followed as helpful to anyone or anything. To those complaining that things like MWKN are too hard to find, again: *I* don't understand why that would be, given how high-profile it is and how hard many work to bring attention to it.

I realize this can come off as dimissive but it isn't. I want everyone to be informed. I have made that clear more times than I can count, and have worked tirelessly toward that end, busting my @$$ in fact putting in godawful hours researching and writing content and so have many others like Jaffa and GeneralAntilles... often with little in the way of thanks (instead, thanks are given to those who complain, I see).

I am at a total loss here Dan. I'm not just being trite when I say "people can't know what they don't know". At some point anyone desiring information has to be proactive about it. We content creators can publish our fingers off and plaster the results all across the internet but people have to seek it out in some fashion to even know it exists in the first palce. We can't just force it onto your reading device of choice!

So call me ignorant, confused, shortsighted, mystified, exasperated, whatever-- dismissive isn't it.

But please-- keep laying out any suggestion(s) you feel will help heighten awareness of these efforts, and those of us with any ability will gladly implement what we can. We WANT readership. We WANT openness. We're not doing this for pure self-gratification.

EDIT: sorry, not trying to be combative or act like your concerns aren't valid. Just coming off the end of a stressful week and should have waited until tomorrow to respond.

Very likely, and we will gladly include that in the current efforts.

EDIT: I have proposed it in the News/Planet thread here: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=53005

Thanks, do I need to include it as an item in the 'Brainstorming' post(s) recently created (and if so, where would it fit?)?

This reminds me that tableteer.nokia.com has been down for a while here.

Yeah, I believe Nokia's thinking was the the N900 represented a move away from the tablet world and they cut all ties. Bad idea apparently.
