mobile.tvcatchup.com

Your login details will not work unless you are within the beta for the service.

iphone.tvcatchup.com is a completely seperate service than mobile.tvcatchup.com - mobile.tvcatchup.com is to apply to a mass mobile market.

but I was able to log in to mobile.tvcatchup.com before, when you first mentioned it in another thread. I have a feeling it will work for most people who have an old tvcatchup username without having to sign up for the beta again.

the iphone and mobile site seem to behave exactly the same for me. They both launch the media player and they both fail to play because of the format of the playlist that media player doesn't understand, but mplayer does. Somebody kindly posted a link to a thread where somebody made the iphone page launch into mplayer with a script instead.

I've had chance to read through the beta email on dinner.

The link for the maemo beta is different to both mobile.catchup & Iphone.catchup unfortunately i can't post it here but it would appear this beta is completely different to all links used in the past.

i have been beta testing this all morning. When tvcatchup had the low streams up for beta testing from the main site the chanels all played great via the web browser. Via the closed beta testing they are testing for most smartphones thru a similar site to the iphone mobile site. when you select a chanel in there you are supposed to get the option to select high and low streams (HQ LQ) but if conected via wifi the option does not come up. There is a work around in which if you select 2g or 3g the option works. You have to open the site in 2g or 3g select the chanel you want to watch. Then a page opens with the option to select HQ or LQ. Then you need to disconect from 2g/3g and change over to wifi. This then opens the stream via the media player.....problem being it is awful...very choppy and skipping audio. The identical stream when it was being tested from the main site over the weekend worked perfectly. Therfore is this not a media player issue? is there a way to try changing the default player to mplayer to see if this will work?

I'm hoping this program can be ported to Fremantle to do just that

OK, been invited. neotalk, hate to say this but you are not allowed to share results of beta testing outside of the beta forums so we are not allowed to share any results here without permission to do so : (

From issues found ect... i think we need to move away from tvcatchup.com where they care about the end result and if we can find a way to set the default media player used on the n900.

As mentioned above it appears there is a device specific problem with the media player & streaming video.

Noticed this thread - which maybe of some use.

i have even sent this to the moderator at tvcatchup before i posted my findings in here since they feel that this could be a maemo bug.
