I agree with Grok and rickysio. Different way of doing thing doesn't make it a flaw.

Most of my contacts are in Chinese thus the alphabet shortcuts doesn't really help me but I've no complain, as I always have the option to install some useful packages like 'scout' to help me in searching.

Android and google's money making machine by thrusting the advertisment, turns me away.

But I must admit n900 is not for phone users who have seen some functionality on other phones as given whereas we have really very nice people who are giving their time by building apps for n900. Shame on Nokia and kudos to to all the members of development community who are contributing, as a consumer of your apps I thank you.

the n900 feels just fine in my hands.anything thinner like an iphone or an e71 feels strange and always slips through my hands.im not letting the n900 go for a looong time.Android is not perfect either.

I think you mean apps not functionality. As far as i understand about functionality (i could be wrong) it goes the opposite way. I haven't seen any functionality my iphone 3GS can do and my N900 can't. But a lot of things N900 can that iphone can't even dream of. I don't own an android phone so cannot comment on android phone functionality.
As a normal phone user, N900 can hold pretty well at almost anything i throw at it.

I still wish there were more cool games on N900 tho

We all know that n900 can do things that no one can, but the lack of apps on n900 is frustrating. On iphone there is even app that meter winds speed with a very nice GUI. Sure n900 can do that, but the number of developer on n900 is just a fraction of iphone and even android. If someonde make an app with nice and bright GUI please tell me, everytinhg in this phone is dark, even themes
I am looking for a sound meter for n900, even opened a thread at brainstorm section for that, but looks like no one care for this. I have to use another cel with symbiam to do some sound meter.
I like n900 very much, I was between he and milestone (android) e choose this one for the open stuff. What i am seeing is not pleasing me very much, although only us can run gimp.

And so many nice games for iphone 3gs and none for n900. The hardware is like the same, but i know we never will be able to play games like that. Dont want only emulators.

I'm trying to think of a situation where I'd actually need an application that measures wind. That just sounds frivolous and stupid, like most of the iPhone/iPod Touch 'why not?' apps.

As for the sound meter, you may be able to find/dpkg arecord. I think it still comes with alsa-utils. Or you could find a package for pavumeter, since Maemo uses pulseaudio.

As far as games, having nearly limitless storage and having every single system I care about on my device, not to mention being able to play flash games like a champion, and the few gems like Angry Birds and ZenBound, OpenGL ported games (openarena), you name it. I don't really see what the iPhone offers that my N900 doesn't, minus a polished interface for less-than-apt individuals and and oleophobic display.

GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE! Just about EVERY mobile can play NES games.. even my ancient Palm Tungsten TX here plays them. Pretty flawlessly, even!

Oh yes, and LOTS more emulated platforms too.

The one thing i took from OP's post was that he was v.grateful to the community.

I am concerned that this spirit will not transfer into the world of MeeGo but i sincerely hope it does, effortlessly.

Not the case with SNES or Genesis, however. My Magic 32A stuttered and choked to death when trying to run SNES games :<

On another note, you have inspired me to dig out my tungsten... haven't thought about that thing in ages!
