definite improvement!

i think it may come at the cost of audio stuttering (yes, i'm on pr1.3, and no, i am not using a modified pulseaudio). anyone else notice this as well?

Thanks! Seems to make UI a bit nicer. Let's see if there are some downsides.

Is there a way to make the desktop scrolling to have more fps? I know there will be some tearing even after that, but still I would like that..

I had totally missed Transition Control, seems to be a very nice tweaker also!

Yes. By accident Nokias engineers have set that option off.

OR maybe not. *facepalm*

What can I say. Enjoy and report on findings

I haven't tested audio just yet, but here's my view of what happened graphically after modifying the WSEGL_UseHWSync setting:

The scrolling in the application manager view is indeed smoother. However, the drawback seems to be that it doesn't scroll very long per each thumb slide. Maybe that's why the Nokia devs left that setting off because of the earlier complaints about the slow scrolling.

I was looking around for something else to have improved in hildon after this setting, but cannot really see anything else that sticks out besides the application manager view. The scrolling when switching desktop still has some slight stuttering and the same goes for listviews in for instance the email application I think.
Anyone else seen any other differences?

This does make everything smoother, but also much slower. In fact, I thought my transition modifications were gone, but they weren't.

It makes the animations so fluid they become annoying - so I'm reverting this tweak. Rather have fast than fluid. If I preferred form over function I would have bought an iphone

Looks like WSEGL_UseHWSync was turned off due to some issue with desktop animations and swapping:

It works for me too, animations look much smoother. There is just one problem with that: the animations also take more time. This is why I went back to the old setting, which allows me to access menus and dialogs a bit faster.

Setting blur effects (radius and radius_more) in /usr/share/hildon-desktop/transitions.ini and this makes them fast.
If you have blurs, you'll just slower effects.
