Although the "joy" in robthebold's photo is almost palpable, my vote must go to Akkumaru. Such a great shot!

robthebold

Absolutely, undoubtedly, unquestionably. Not only is the composition just right, the colours balanced and the shadows spotless, it also fits the theme perfectly.

Nine entries! We went from a dearth to a surfeit. A paucity to a plethora of pics. Thanks everyone for sharing.

I'm voting for 2. Akkumaru , too.

Is that that birdhouse we saw before in mosens photo? Only that time hosting an actual bird? And someone got a drone for Xmas -- that's pretty joyous!

And I sure enjoy the humor in catbus' "Still Life with Unix Pen" as I'll call it . Is there really a Unix Pen? Fantastic.

shanntu: nice job with the mist enhancing the depth of field. That little thicket almost looks like bamboo in a Chinese silk painting.

And the kids with the cat and the colorful swings -- at least there are a few happy things in an otherwise awful 2016.

My vote goes to robthebold as I absolutely envy people who are able to take shots of people. Brilliant photograph, and cute subject
