Hello folks!
This is pie, Cherrypie.
I turned 17 in may & live in Germany with my family and my girlfriend.
Currently i'm doing an apprenticeship for IT-Specialist at SAP.
I was looking for quite a long time for a new phone, since my old one is a Nokia 7610, which isn't even listed on the official page from nokia anymore.
Anyway, from all the phones that were on the market, 3 months ago when I started looking for a new one, the iphone was definitly the smoothest, coolest looking and most powerful one. But when it comes to customizabilty, the iphone OS looses out. This, for me as a person who likes programming and wants to customize my devices in every possible way, was the main reason, why i'm not writing these letters in an apple forum now.
That was the point when suddenly the N97 turned out of nowhere, a new flagship with Touchscreen plus full qwerty keyboard? Sounds good, but the technology built in there isn't really new & the improvements to other touchscreen phones from nokia like the 5800 isn't that huge, considering that high price for the N97.
So I kept looking and looking & then, yet again, I found my way to maemo.nokia.com & was amazed! After numerous readings of previews, reviews of the prototype & watching alot of youtube vids about it, we all can say for sure, that the N900 kills the iphone in every single way.
If you kept on reading till now, I should say thank you, for your wasted time, huh?
Anyway, that's the story why I preordered my N900 and will have a deep look into programming for meamo 5.
Cya around.

ty, for the warm welcome
Free WiFi for everyone? How's that been realized? Hotspots everywhere in town or one huge transmitter? Never heard of something like free WiFi everywhere in town, only possibility in germany to get Internet everywhere is a sim-card with a surf-anywhere contract which costs 10€/month for a flatrate.
edit: hey pansper (:
