Did you find that it duplicated your msn contacts, and if you merge two, your msn contact dissappears from your contacts?

No I dont get that.. it seems to work for me. I had some strange online contacts though, who were online but I could not send an MSN IM to them. I disconnected and reconnected and they were offline after that.

did it duplicate all your contacts after reintall ? or just those that you already merged?

getting the same problem, but with HAZE. MSN just refuses to connect, says network error all the time.

I 'm gonna use Jabber to import my MSN contacts. After 31 page of this thread all i saw is "MSN with Haze/butterfly isn't working, anybody else?". No extras testing or devel, so no risk at all, i think Jabber is the easiest way and the most stable.

Good thinking.
I enabled testing and install Haze [? I think, the one with only MSN support] and it seems to be running just fine.

But I like the Jabber idea. I might try that again [didn't work too well when I first tried it a few years ago]

I am too, however if you hit ctrl + u while in pidgin it opens up the plugin option theres one for the send button but i have no idea where to download it from the description states that its location is: /usr/lib/pidgin/sendbutton.so

I hope somebody adds this and all the other plugins into the repository soon.
