No, I had a t-mobile one
I saw the normal £2 deduction and then the £2 credit, but no activity today, though I will keep an eye out..

That exact version? If so, then, in my extreme optomism, I would argue that once some has had a phone for a few hours that ringtone would NOT be your default ringtone! So one could deduce that the phone I heard the other end of the conversation, was brand new and therefore delivered/opened this morning, so could be an N900.

...see optomistic!

Ordered on 18th Sept (all I see here are Johnny-come-latelys ) and have had no credit checks. I am an existing T-Mo customer though.

Cheeky! Mine was only 10 days later!

How does that work if your and existing customer? Did you order from MPD on a new T-Mobile contract or what? Surely, if it's a new contract the credit check would still have been performed?

Very optomistic. That's my ringtone in the N96 after I got bored resetting it every time I had to hard reset the c****y thing.

No-one calls me anyway - and if they do I don't pick up.

In my case it was a new contract, however at the very beginning of the order form they ask for current T-Mobile number (if any). Also T-Mobile can lookup from name and address details whether I'm already a customer, hence decide whether to do that debit/credit thingy or not.

That's how I understand it, at least.

Right so at the moment we could say every one who ordered on T-Mobile before October 10th (roughly) who ins't with T-mobile currently has had the credit check today? that makes 3 or 4 of us i think so not really enough to draw any conclusions from!

Don't be. I have plenty of friends and a lovely family - I just don't like phones much and everyone who knows me knows it. That's why I need the N900 to replace my N96 - phone functions are just not that important to me I need IM etc.

Except my friend has that ringtone on his 5800XM and he has had it for MONTHS. So your logic I am afraid is incorrect, some people just can't be bothered to change it or find the default is louder than anything they can find to replace it with. The reason he has it I think is because he has been updating the firmware lately so it keeps defaulting.

For the record, I have no changes on my account but my credit check seemed to have been different to everyone elses. I ordered 24th September on T-Mobile Combi20 and MPD did a temporary hold on £90.98 (the total amount I pay up front for the phone plus p&p) for 48 hours.

Like Evad I did also provide my existing T-Mobile number, which I think they may have used for T-Mobile to confirm my credit without a credit check (T-Mobile customer support said I am pre-authed for up to 5 lines with them). This makes sense then that MPD did their own check just to make sure I could afford the phone. Although personally I think making sure you have enough money NOW in your account, weeks/months before you are expecting to need it, is plain stupid.
