Yes, I saw that page and indeed it doesn't say how to get started, which is why I asked the question.

It has been said that these items may be removed
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=166

but that has not happened. Can it happen now? Are there any blockers?

If not removed, can they be rewritten because they give people the false impression that this is a Nokia run site:

Council, can you give us an update? This was supposed to be a busy, crucial term, the transition from Maemo to MeeGo, but I don't know what's happening.

I'm probably just ignorant; could someone point me to places where the council is posting?

Everything the council is posting in an official capacity is on the council blog and is also syndicated to the Community forum.

For the enormous things which are currently ongoing, there is also the Current Hot Topics on the council homepage.

Mainly the council blog. Entries are automatically echoed in threads here in Community.

But point taken. Speaking only for myself, communications can certainly improve. I'll do what I can, and am thankful to the others for doing their parts.

Just done a quick count: 8 posts in two months. That doesn't seem that bad - we should only be communicating on key issues, things like "MeeGo not official on N900" isn't a topic for the council blog, as it's a new story best covered by others (except where we push to say "doh" and "what can we expect")

Hi,

For my own part, as a non-council thread-usurper, one of the major failures of the council has been an expectation I've perceived that everyone not on the council expects the people on the council to take care of everything for them.

I submit as evidence the recent brainstorm, where most posts were by staff and council, where the "decide on priorities" meeting was attended by only one non-council & staff person, said meeting had a couple of meeting times proposed with no response from anyone outside staff & council, and even half of the relevant Nokia people didn't attend.

The council does not have the job of doing everything in your place. I appreciate the council has some "distill community feeling" mojo going on, but I'm not exactly distant from the community, and I have trouble seeing any community feeling at all these days, so what is there to distill?

Dave.

Sorry, everyone, if I sounded accusatory ("ie. Why aren't you doing a better job?"). That wasn't my intent at all.

I am very interested in knowing what's going on, and I've really been on the periphery of the community for a few months now. I look forward to participating more once I'm not stressed out all the time and I've got my own life sorted.

I think it is great to see the council blog being used so frequently, and I'm saddened that there's still so much frustrating apathy to contend with.
