The market was for the longest time truly awful (back in the early days) and even now its nothing to write home about and forced the creation of new markets. This is simply the evolution of that.
It's a simple fact of human nature that we want something unique and different from everyone else (while still staying one of the sheep of course) and the phone companies are simply providing that by Sense UI, touchwiz, watch or in this case a game.

As far as the market being a major source of revenue http://phandroid.com/2011/02/21/in-o...emarkable-862/

Its a drop in the google ocean.

However the market has the widest exposure for developers and any game creator is going to have to be seriously offset by the phone maker to stop them putting the app out to the world instead of a limited handset market. So I wouldn't be worried to much about this ruining the application/game market for the future.
Indeed. My point being that Google will be proactive in ensuring that it's app store will be the most successful, not worry over damaging the game market.

It's a simple commentary on how I see the world, and what I predict will happen, and not necessarily what I would *like* to happen.

So I say again: Nvidia/Sony look to isolate pockets of users creating a console-like scenario. Google is acting against this by coaxing developers to make platform agnostic games which is in their best interest.

Nope. It's a 0.3MP (VGA) camera:

Have an Apple TV and an Android device?

If you're one of the two that does, the updated Doubletwist app will let you stream video to your Apple TV

Not bad for owners of the $99 device.

Well, it's a front facing camera, so it's typically going to be used for face-to-face chats, so VGA is more than sufficient, especially considering spotty network connections.

Hopefully its a good VGA camera!

Ahhh.. That's rough. But you'll certainly have a killer phone when you do get it.

I have very little use for a phone, and even I have been hugely tempted by the Galaxy S 2.

I think I'm most interested in the Tab 8.9. The Transformer seems really neat, but I have a laptop with Linny on it, so this 'feature' is less appealing to me. If it could replace my laptop, then it would be far more enticing. Everything else is 10.1" and heavy.

But a part of me is keenly interested in the HTC Paccino with the scribe pen. But I have to make sure that it a) has killer specs, and b) has enough apps to support the input method -- otherwise it's a novelty.

In simplest terms: ESCAPE key, CONTROL keys, ALT keys, etc. are MISSING! ...even in HID profile because Android LACKS the keymappings, opting instead for its own proprietary keyboard keyset.

Here's the problem--Android isn't a proper computing platform. It lacks a LOT of the legacy and standards that a functional computer NEEDS to have. There's a severe lack of proper POSIX, despite being based on Linux (which strives for it... while Android tries to strip that away).

Geeks suffer, sure.. but end-users also have an awkward time of it when they need what they've traditionally expected from a laptop/workstation too (keys, mouse usage, peripherals (printers, FAX, even telephone modems for the non-wifi/non-eth stuck areas or for OOB access to routers for the network/sys admins among us).. and so on.

No, I WANT a standard Linux tablet/netbook thing. Particularly if it can just be a tablet with a fold-away keyboard (or better, optional altogether). So far, everyone--even Maemo, comes short.
