Q: may it be, backupmenu is consuming a lot of power when backing up? I shut down device with battery at ~75%, made a backup and started again and battery was at 53%. Drops of over 20 percent are common with reboots and are false readings.
BM doesn't eat much, I backed up and restored 2-3 times a day with little problem. However, screen is lit, kbd as well, a compressed file system is bein read and decpmpressed, so power consumption is non-trivial.

I had assumed the U-boot implementation in Power kernel
would hose the BackupMenu bootup menu.
I have been cautious (Always, when treading the turf of extras-dev)
and worked up this idea I would first buy the insurance of having
BackupMenu
and then install the power Kernel knowing I had a fallback position
before going on to apps and drivers (like fcam/Bless etc).

I searched this thread and saw some discussion about uboot, but I am looking for answer of this particular issue:
Previously I upgraded to titan's v44 kernel-power with uboot included. After not booting up and then reflashing to the stock PR1.3, when the device boots again while the keyboard is open, a black on white boot menu shows up which gives two choices: "Boot from internal flash" and "Power off (when not in charger)". I was thinking if uboot still remained even though restoring to the stock kernel.
That doesn't matter as long as the device boots and things get working.
Then I went ahead to install Backupmenu, hoping to use the backup/restore function and to see if the system crashes terribly
. Now the device boots up with Backupmenu's boot menu, and that white boot menu page is gone.
Does it mean that installing Backupmenu will somehow replaces uboot? Maybe I mixed up the concepts so please educate me.

That black and white menu is from "bootmenu-n900", which BackupMenu -does- replace. U-boot doesn't have a menu(iirc), and shouldn't be affected.

I am just curious because before flashing kernel-power v44 I had never seen that black & white boot menu, even after installing backupmenu or kernel-power v42 (and below).
