Here's the problem--Android isn't a proper computing platform. It lacks a LOT of the legacy and standards that a functional computer NEEDS to have. There's a severe lack of proper POSIX, despite being based on Linux (which strives for it... while Android tries to strip that away).

Geeks suffer, sure.. but end-users also have an awkward time of it when they need what they've traditionally expected from a laptop/workstation too (keys, mouse usage, peripherals (printers, FAX, even telephone modems for the non-wifi/non-eth stuck areas or for OOB access to routers for the network/sys admins among us).. and so on.

No, I WANT a standard Linux tablet/netbook thing. Particularly if it can just be a tablet with a fold-away keyboard (or better, optional altogether). So far, everyone--even Maemo, comes short.

Android is arguably not linux because of the lack of things that amount to be bytes on a filesystem.

I believe integration is possible including a POSIX file system, additional kernel modules, as well as the necessary shared libs that make TL tick. The best of both worlds with zero compromise.

Things like keysets can be remapped or software features re-integrated with shared libs. In the end, it's software, afterall.

Apps already can individually choose to truly run multitask in the background or else choose to pause in background. I rather like the way Android handles this, actually. But yeah, I do sometimes wish I could have windowed apps that could be placed side-by-side on a tablet screen.
