Ok then you write the gui, you package it fully and you distribute it. I can't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to do it.

..oh wait...

its nice though but it would be easier to change settings with an gui
We don't need testers for something that has no one to fix it. All we get then is pages and pages of spam from people arguing pointless arguments that it should be in repos or needs a GUI. We get it... it should... but that doesn't mean it will, nor can be that way.

who said anything about a GUI?
well I might look into doing just that when i get the time but I was under the impression, and still am, that your excuse was to avoid "the noobs" not that we lack the knowledge or somebody to do so. If the intention was to avoid "the noobs" it kind of defeats the purpose of your "how to" guide and we get spammed by "when is this going to be in the repos" anyway but if you want to make cliche "oh wait" comments then be my guest, I'm not going to argue about it.

He's fed up of people asking for it to be in the repos/someone to develop a GUI. (As am I)

It has been repeated that it won't be done until someone states that they are doing it.

And you... well I'll apologize for coming off so cynical.. but as Reffyyyy has stated I'm tired of hearing the same thing 3-4 times every page. The issue is, and has been, the entire time.. that we have no one capable of doing it.. otherwise it would have been done now (or something would be in the works).

If you feel capable of doing it: Go ahead. javis talked a little of doing something.. but haven't heard anything from him in a few days. ishurmer is also interested in doing some work on it... but I'm not sure he is confident in his ability, contact him and see if you can work together on the project then.

Finally, there is absolutely no reason to release anything to the repos without a GUI... as, of the moment, the thing stopping everyone is that they are afraid to open a terminal. Which brings me to my final point from that post (which wasn't directed at you): If the thing isn't completely accessible, what point is putting it in the repos, especially considering everyone freely downloads from devel like its being published as perfect.

To be fair, he is probably a little pissy cause I got him banned from the forums for a week... a week ago:

I believe he has anger issues related with being a 13 year old.
