@noobmonkey: What is the maximum uptime for your device (i.e. without reboots)? In the last emails you mentioned that it was on since Sunday without a reboot. What happened before that? Did you ever have any reboot by itself?

Cheers

PS. received confirmation from MPD today and expecting tomorrow so have to do some testing...

oh yes that's true of course. MPD or Nokia though have defied the point of preordering. To be fair, I'm rather a patient type of guy and not so much of a geek and don't preorder often, in fact I've only done it once (Sony) and it worked a charme. I had my device before it was available anywhere. I guess it was on the first container.

When thinking about it, yes I actually start understanding that it must have been solely Nokia's fault. They simply haven't sent enough and are late on top of that.

And the sad news is, no mail no status change. This, according to the letter, may mean that there won't be a phone in for me today.

solely Nokia's fault
Absolutely agree!

They've botched the release of this phone in a really big way!
Compared to other phones this phone is really buggy but at least the community at large can contribute fixes and frequent firmware updates will sort this out.

When they announced the first delay (from September) I knew something was up and decided to hold off pre-ordering it to see what developed. Sure enough they changed to release date more than 3 times?
Then they decide to launch in USA first - which by itself is fine but no carriers were willing to subsidise the n900. You had to pay full price for the n900 upfront - what a stupid way to grow your meagre <9% (I'm being optimistic here) "market share".

This seems like the actions of a panicked and desperate company attempt to regain market share (losing it to Apple).

Meanwhile in Europe the hype of the n900 was growing, there was a constant stream of new news articles in Google news after 3 months of delays still no sign of it.

When Nokia finally released the n900 the hype was beginning to subside and it is getting closer to Christmas - most people are thinking about buying presents never mind buying a new phone (except us lot though!).

Oh and Nokia offically sanctioning a video showing the N900 running Nintendo-based console emulators. Nintendo were NOT going to say "gee, that's cool!" their reaction was "F*** you! are you infringing our copyrights and intellectual property - we may sue your arse!".

Finally as a supplier letting down the very people who were trying to actually sell the n900 by woefully, inconsistanly supplying stock.
MPD suffered as a result.

So great product but ******ed Nokia Management

Just send it back.

Get a "Return Authorisation" from MPD and get a replacement.

You've paid (or will pay) £500 for the n900 I think a replacement is not unreasonable!

Judging by other posts MPD claim you get a replacement in a couple of days.
