I configured Modest with the wizard provided, modifying my e-mail address and password. Nothing else. Why don't you try it, removing previously your current account data?

I remember that the built-in e-mail client didn't have a wizard, so maybe if you upgraded to Diablo restoring your e-mail settings (from the chinook built-in client) that is where your problem started.

Funny, I never noticed Rtcomm crashing with error messages like Modest, but I haven't tried changing contact info or anything, I just chat with people.
Since upgrading to Diablo yesterday, I've collected 11 core files from Modest and only 1 each from eds-sync and telepathy-haze. The other offenders on my tablet are browserd (1 time) and maemo-launcher (10 times).

Yeah, modest just crashed on me and reported a read e-mail as unread. Still definitely BETA.

I too didn't have great success. Pointing it at a large IMAP account caused the NIT to come to its knees where claws acted more like T-Bird as it should. I didn't play long enough since it wasn't suitable but I also couldn't send mail via an authenticated TLS SMTP connection. Seems to have a networking bug under that setup, other apps with the same config have no trouble.

Flashed clean to Diablo, no restoration of old files. Modest still kicks out a certificate error connecting to gmail.

Is there anyway to have all your accounts in modest go to a single inbox, or an easier way to see all account folders at once in stead of having to go to the menu to switch views between each account?

I can't imagine using POP on my tablet. Storing anything as important as e-mail onto a handheld device just seems like a bad idea to me. But then I'm terrible with backups.

Until the ability to use IMAP came along, I just used webmail to check my e-mail, and I used the little webmail notifier.

The benefit of POP is that you can read/answer your e-mails while you are offline.

Anyone have this problem?

I can see all the headers, but when I try to open a message to read it I get a blank screen. This occurs whether or not the message has been previously read.

meh... I just answer them while I'm there anyway. As gole said, storing email on the NIT isn't a comforting thought. Having access to the same messages with all the up to date status staying in sync from any machine far outweighs the store and respond later of POP. You can have a giant mailbox with many folders and it looks the same from any machine and any app.

I tried modest on a smaller IMAP server and it works a lot better than it did against a large mailbox. However it still won't send mail over an authenticated TLS connection. improved but still beta it seems.

And that higher than expected CPU usage makes it less than ideal.

doesn't do that to me. You must be using POP?
