Oh, I bet libart is for libgnomeprint. The current packaging disables that, though I'd like to get that working eventually. I could use some help in getting instructions for all these dependencies - most are pretty easy rebuilds from Gutsy, but some have a few caveats.

Join the Maemo Garage project if you can help with this - I think we have a wiki there maybe (?) or if not I know we have SVN that we can keep documentation in.

Yep! I included it to get around an error that later turned out to be caused by something else I misconfigured, but I kept it so I can print to PDFs. (It will occasionally crash when you try; I'm looking into why.)

Thank you for coming here and telling us what the current state of things are! I'm happy to help as I can.

ldrn, megabyte405, please keep pdf exporting/printing - it's really useful.

I'd definitely love to have PDF export (printing) - I'm guessing it might not happen for 2.6.0, since it requires some more dependencies, but now with the help folks are offering it may actually work out! It is at least in the eventual plans, that's for sure. (and it turns out that building these things is a lot easier once you go into sb-menu, setup, and enable the debian-etch devkit and the doctools devkit - it means that for the most part I can just rebuild Ubuntu Gutsy sources for the dependencies.)

Would it be possible to use the ghostscript package that comes with Xournal, or cups-pdf for PDF printing from Abiword?

Well, neither of those are necessary. Really, the only thing we need (and the only thing we can use) for printing is libgnomeprint(-ui), which includes PDF printing support, so that's good. I just want to get the basics working first before I drag that in. (It might be able to use cups if you have it installed to do a network printer or something - I haven't worked on that much.)

I'm rebuilding the beta for those of you who requested access to it. Please let me know if you're willing to test - my discussions with ldrn confirm that some of the bugs I'm seeing are due to the emulator, so it's super-essential that people with 2008 devices help me out

RE: the word doc thing: What version did you use? That is a known bug with an old version of WV and the stripped-down Maemo libraries. I'll see if I can get a new release with the bug fix in place - that should be doable by 2.6.

Beta testers - I am currently uploading a new build - should be up within 30 min of this post. PLEASE NOTE - you must uninstall the old one before installing the new one - I had to change the versioning so the old one must be removed first (or it won't get upgraded) You can use the rest of the packages from the previous build, they are all the same. Yes, I tested this one in scratchbox successfully - there is something wrong with the app menu (start it from a terminal by running abiword) but it does start and appear to work.

Greetings Ryan (and Everyone Else):

I still have the same problem (even with the new build) of no executable to run. . .

There is a symbolic link 'abiword' in /usr/bin which calls 'AbiWord-2.6', but there is no such file anywhere on the tablet that I could find. In 2.4 versions, 'AbiWord-2.4' resides in /usr/bin.

A direct call to AbiWord-2.6 (as either root or user) also yields no results.

Anyone else having the same problem?

Thanks, K.
