I've not yet installed the camera app since flashing Diablo & tried the full work-around steps (reboot, reboot after battery out for 10 minutes) & still no joy. Nothing is started when I pull the camera out & the image doesn't rotate in the phone app.

Also see
https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3303 about not inverting the image anymore.
If anybody has got instructions to reproduce this, please add a comment to the bug report, or CC yourself if interested in the progress!
Thanks!

After ignoring the issue & several reboots, now mine is magically working too! I don't like problems that go away on their own .

i found a way to reproduce the problem. while using the videocam app i turned the status bar volume all the way down which caused the tablet to freeze.

after rebooting i noticed the usual flipping/autorun problems. thankfully, the usual fix did the trick!

Wow. I just got a replacement N800 from the repair center. It had OS2007, flashed to Diablo. I have no image rotation under Diable. I didn't check it under OS2007. I am sending it back to Nokia. After 4 hours of reflashing, reinstalling programs, I discovered the problem.

I took out the battery and problems went away (both image rotate and startup internet call program). Thanks for the battery taking out suggestion. Camera and videocam apps are still installed, btw.

(Now that everyone seems to have it resolved...)

Dumb question here: How is "Does not start the internet call application when popped out" a problem?

For my use, at least, setting that to start my favored camera app of the day is far more helpful...

I'm not sure if you're just hinting or asking (the former is more likely give your credentials ) but just in case, this and this is what I use. HTH

Well, considering my credentials as the author of one of those posts you linked...

But I suppose it would have been courteous for me to link to what I was talking about, since there are less-adept readers about, so thanks for those!
