WOOT!

I dont have a WiFi connection where I am, so, I cant test Google Talk or the browser yet.. But the beta worked perfect for me, so, nothing bad to expect here.

Good things so far:

They fixed the video player. I'm really, really picky when it comes to the video player, so i'm glad they did a good job here. I'm watching full-screen, TV-quality, paper-smooth 30FPS, high-bitrate MPEG goodness here played directly off the MMC card. Glitchless!

For the unbathed, always encode with low resolution and high bitrate. You'll manage about 120MB per hour of video... Thats like 8 hours of video on a 1GB MMC card.

Bad things so far:

Still contains a really, really weird list of cities to choose from when it comes to the clock. How many people do you think live in Andorra, versus Phoenix or St. Louis?

Fonts are still too damn big. But thats what themes are for.

I don't believe that a few weeks was nearly long enough for a proper bug-fix cycle given all the issues I've noticed (crashes, connection mgr not finding any APs after being in sleep mode, complete lockups, less responsive mini keyboard, etc).
Have to agree - the beta was remarkably short lived (5 weeks?)

Note sure if this happens for others, but after restoring my backup (settings and bookmarks) from the Beta OS, if I reboot my 770 (which is running the "final" image) the word "BETA" appears in the system tray for a few seconds, then disappears. It's a minor bug, but irritating and once again raises a question mark about Nokia QA...

The two default tableteer catalogues;
repository.maemo.org, mistral-beta, free
repository.maemo.org, mistral-beta, non-free
maemo.hackers.org/apt, mistral, main

Edit: Seems to have installed successfully after I disabled the second of the two tableteer catalogues:

catalogue.tabletter.nokia.com/non-certified, mistral, user

Weird...

I think that Nokia did the right thing by fixing some of the bugs and releasing it. Even though it's not tottally "fixed". I rather they keep their word and do what they said than pull a Microsoft or a Sony. That is delays, delays, delays. This way, we can enjoy what has been fixed and I'm sure they'll continue to fix those reported bugs.

I still can't get this working. I disabled 2nd tableteer repository, but I can't edit 1st to disable it too.

I get lots of errors to log:
Code:
E: Failed to fetch http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com/certified/dists/mistral/Realese.gpg
W: Couldn't stat source package list http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com mistral/user Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com_certified_dists_mistral_user_binary-armel_Packages) - stats (2 No such file or directory)

W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems

Looks like things are moving right along... too bad I can't upgrade because this closes too many doors to get software into the machine (ie non-standard arm binaries etc) but as soon as that changes I'll be joining you.

VM still only allows for upto 64MB and NOT 1GB as they promised.

Does anyone have a script to extend rootfs & swap etc??

I used the flasher-2.0 one since that was what was required for the beta. It worked for me without any problems.
