10.x.x.x are for nat use iirc, and as such should not be routable on the internet at all...

After about 5 tries, I was finally able to upgrade to version 2.5.

10.10.10.xxx, assuming your mask is 255.255.255.0.

There must be some filtering on the gnuite.com server that is refusing connections to certain IP addresses.
bluesubaru:

We do have NAT, that is, "www.gnuite.com" should "see" the external IP which is a public IP address.

In our case, (from Mexico City), I have tried several options to get to gnuite.com:

From my home network, where no firewall restrictions are put. This is an ADSL link from the most common ISP (prodigy infinitum)
From our office network, where also, there are no restrictions to traffic between gnuite.com (whatever IP it resolves to) and our IPs
From our company network, using paths in different cities (with different routes to International -from Mexico's view- sites on the Internet)
Public hot-spots.

All scenarios behave the same. There is no response from gnuite.com and in all cases there is no ping response and traceroutes "stop" at some point as shown in one of my previous post.

Based on this, I can conclude the problem is external to "end users". Obviously someone / something (some router) is filtering data packets coming from, at least Latin-America (Mexico and Brazil, so far).

Anything we can do to help debug this we'll do, just let me know.

Thanks in advance for your help and interest in this. Kind regards.

It would be intersting to know if the guys from IndT can access gnuite's server ...

I was only using the 10.x.x.x network as an example on what to provide. Can you provide your subnetwork address?

Your trace goes to the last hop before the gnuite server. That is why I think there is some filtering on the server preventing responses back to you.

Can you ping 64.72.119,252? That server is on the same subnet as gnuite's and would help determine if you are being blocked from an individual ip or a whole sub-net.

My current IP is on the 189.135.104.xx range. Yes, I can ping 64.72.119.252 from this IP. (BTW, there is a colon before the '252' on your post)

I can also ping 64.72.119.252 from all the geographical locations in Mexico (country) I tested (where we do have network sites and different outward routes to the Internet).

So.. seems then, the actual gnuite.com server is the culprit (at least from traffic originating in Mexico).

Fracisco (or any other Brazilian friend), could you also test a ping to 64.72.119.252 and post your results. Thanks in advance.

Hope this helps a bit. Kind regards.

The 189.0.0.0 block is distributed by Latin American and Caribbean IP address Regional Registry . I'm willing to bet Francisco is also in the 189.0.0.0 block.

Febb, what is the common subnet for all the locations you have tried to ping from? 189.0.0.0, 189.135.0.0 or 189.135.104.0

I have tried pinging from several, randomly selected, different IPs in these ranges:

189.128.8.0 to 189.255.255.255
200.23.0.0 to 200.23.255.255
200.56.0.0 200.57.255.255

Results are all the same in each case:
DNS resolves www.gnuite.com as 64.72.119.253
and can ping successfully :
64.72.119. xxx
xxx being randomly selected as a matter of testing, one of :
001,150,189,200,248,249,250,251,252

But does not work with xxx = 253 (also not with xxx=254). Some other xxx values also do not work, but of course, that is NO indication of anything except it could be a firewalled address or just plain and simple a vacant IP address.

The fact is that I can reach that addresses segment from all of the above indicated ranges. Nevertheless, there is no response from the 253 server (gnuite.com).

Again, hope this is useful, and also again, thanks for your time and assistance in solving this "mistery"

My access from home is via commercial ADSL that use the IP 200.xxx.yyy.zzz or 201... My IP now is 201... In this case I can not access gnuite.com

The academic net here use IP 164.41.yyy.zzz. From home I can use a proxy in the university to access scientific journals subscribed by the university. If I access the internet from home via ADSL but using this proxy I have no problem to access gnuite.com.

I have no problem to ping 64.72.119.252

Some years ago many server in USA were blocked to be accessed from IP 200 (Brazil). I think the server of gnuite filters the access and blocks IP in the range 189 to 201 or more.

I am very sorry but I will delete Maemo Mapper in my N810 because I can not use the proxy from my Nokia.

Francisco:

I would wait for this to resolve. Just imagine if you delete every single application that gets "blocked" somehow....

This has to be solved. It used to work fine untill a few monts ago; for sure this is a misconfiguration somewhere. We just have to find it and hopefully, the owners of that service will correct it.

Cheers.
