Only 5h and 20 minutes? With my n800 I was able to watch videos pretty much non-stop at work for almost 8 hours with wifi on and me switching back and forth (leaving the video running) to chat in IRC or AIM. I'd also occasionally search for something on the internet. I could get a whole 12 hour shift with periodic movies and lots of browsing/chatting. And I think with the extended battery option available I could get more than 12 hours of constant run time with power hungry tasks.
Browsing wise I don't really notice a huge difference in load time between the n800 and my laptop. Maybe 15 seconds longer for some sites (CNN, gizmodo, etc.), but really it's taking 15 seconds longer and fits in my pocket. People are in such a hurry tsk tsk.
I'm currently on a lookout for a n810. Since I feel the need for one again.

IIRC, the N810 just can't handle playing a typical DivX (e.g. approx 350MB per 40minutes TV episode) from a network share folder via Wifi all that well (in terms of battery life). I believe your 8-hour playback time is from local SD card with a re-encoded video (one that's specifically for N810's resolution and bitrate), right?
And yes, here in Hong Kong...people are always in a rush...in the fast lane. You're not?
