We've discussed netbooks and similar devices, like the EeePC and Apple Tablet, over in this part (Competitors) of the forum before ... and there wasn't current/recent thread for the Nokia netbook when I was starting this thread (I looked; but I looked for "Nokia Netbook" not "Nokia Booklet").

That said, if someone wants to merge this thread into that one, I wont be upset about it.

12 hour battery life? Nice!
10″ display? Nice!
regular netbook? Thanks god! (It would be affordable)
Windows 7? Nice! No Maemo on the non-touchscreen devices please. And there are no restrictions on installing Ubuntu/Slackware/FreeBSD on it after purchase. But Windows will allow ordinary users, you know, to buy it. That's a clever marketing strategy.
Half-alu case? Nice!
3G? Nice!

Once again, Nokia shows its penchant for going where the competition already is. It had the small tablet field almost to itself, and instead it decided to fight it out with the Netbook people. I just don't see Nokia as the company I would pick to beat the rest. (I guess I just am flat-out not a Nokia fan, I finally realize...)

We're talking about the _software_ that's a COMPLETE disappointment. Without Maemo or Ubuntu, this device is an EPIC FAIL, in my opinion.
Well, I need to choose my words carefully here, but Maemo isn't currently fully suitable for 10" screen sizes, and for the choice between Windows/Ubuntu, the vast majority of consumers would go for Windows. Mainly because of the existing software base, also because of the friendlier/more familiar UI. Windows 7 has a lot of positive aspects.

No doubt somebody will hack Maemo in there pretty quickly, as with Ubuntu.

Windows only? Wont buy. Ever.

If this device had been a Convertible Tablet Netbook with Maemo or Ubuntu? Will buy, no further questions.

Install the OS of your choice after purchase?
