It's been mentioned that Nokia is moving to Qt. Is it correct to say that Mer will also be using Qt?

linux mint wasn't around in 2006 or at least not widely enough noticeable to make it on a map, but Mint should be place on there as a branch off of Ubintu like Mepis is on there, IMO

Linux Mint is a branch of Ubuntu with the idealogy that everything should just work regardless of licensing issues or patent issues

(e.g. users shouldn't have to install codecs [gstreamer bad] themselves to play .mp3s (though that was resolved with Jaunty with the fluxmundo mp3 package I think).

Just use unetbootin if you want to create a live usb. The process is automated. Just make sure that the flash drive is formatted to fat32.

In the distribution, just select whatever flavor of ubuntu you want to try.

While not as fast as actually installing it on a hard drive it is much faster than a live cd. The iso is only 700mb so as long as your flash drive has at least 1gb of space you are covered.
