Has anyone heard anything new concerning this?

Why on earth is the N900 displayed all over the Ovi pages if it is NOT supported??

I seriously do not understand why nokia is taking so long to make these things compatible to maemo 5.

I am sure they can double the no. of n900's sold by just adding two things:

1. Ovi maps 3.0 with free navigation
2. Nokia ovi suite.

And both of them are nokia products.

Come on nokia get them working with the next firmware update and i promise you that the no. of n900 sold will be double in half the time until now.

hope this is of use to you all

i have just had this email from nokia customer care:

Dear Neo,

Thank you for contacting Nokia Care. We do apologize for the inconvinience. Regarding to your concern, I can check that for you. Let's start with when will be the flash payer 10.1 will be released, actually the flash player 10.1 is still on its beta version and its already been released for notebooks but not yet for mobile phones.

Second about the maps 3 for N900 is not available its because of the OS or operating system of the N900 is different from other nokia phones, the platform of the N900 is linux based while other nokia phones have Symbian os. Dont worry Neo soon the maps 3 will be compatible to your phone N900.

Third is about the PC Suite not fully functioning for N900 is because the PC suite is built for Symbian os phones, but some functions of the PC Suite is functioning for N900 to update the firmware of the phone.

I hope you will be satisfied to my answers to your questions.

For future reference, please feel free to check our website. Kindly refer to the link below:

Venomrush, please just supply the URL instead of pasting pages worth of text...

neotalk, good news! It seems that both Ovi support and maps are on the way! Well, if Nokia delivered the N900 with a bunch of Ovi logos, it would be a Wrong Thing to not include the Ovi support later.

Patience... The summer is coming, and then I'll have more time to play/hack/debug/code!

When it will be "soon"?

I remember a teacher I had in the University that hated us when we used terms like "much", "a few", "a lot"... he always insisted that "much" or "a few" are not numbers. He always wanted any answer being supported by facts/numbers.

So, "soon" is not a date.

Thank you neotalk for the post, but for that guy that answer you from Nokia, it would be nice to ask him what he consider 'soon' is.

....
From someone (Nokia) who is really pushing Qt on the developers on the grounds that it'll allow easier porting between Symbian/Maemo, you'd think they would at least lead by example. Instead, their own internal processes can't even be ported between the two unrelated OS's...
