How much will you have to pay? I believe you have the law on your side; hence: nothing, since it is a design mistake by Nokia, and falls under warranty (YES, EVEN IF THE OFFICIAL WARRANTY PERIOD MIGHT BE PASSED!). Now, they can try to charge you anything. But if you stick to your guns I believe you will eventually win, should it come to such. There are already threads about this btw.

Even after 2 years, you are not suddenly supposed to have a USB port in your hands. Since the problem could've occurred at any time within those 2 years, you are still covered by warranty after those 2 years. EU law specifically protects customers against design mistakes like these. Whether Nokia customers stick to their guns when they're pointed the door is an entirely different issue though, but if we convince these Nokia customers that even after warranty period they still have rights they might not allow themselves to get screwed. Another example: if your car suddenly dissolves and implodes into a rabbit this is clearly not due to customer mistake and simply shouldn't happen, hence such does falls under warranty. IOW, it is not as if after 2 years a device may suddenly stop working properly at all due to a design mistake and the customer is screwed. However after 2 years the device (or a product, like a car) is worth much less.
