There is always risk of data loss if you get a random reboot even without these changes. With the slightly excessive swap to ram ratio it is quite unlikely to get to the point where the OOM killer is triggered while still remaining usable, but if you did, the change in question (the one that is said to possibly cause random reboots) is to kill the task that causes the OOM condition which is unlikely to be any core task, rather it is most likely to be the app you just launched.
