Yeah, that new photo viewer FB really sucks big time. Even on a 19" monitor. Takes up half the freakin screen tu view a postage stamp and you can't zoom in.
Really wrecks the full FB site experience on the N900. But if you press Ctrl+R it refreshes the page and displays the photo without the overlay.
Just like pressing F5 on the PC.

Things like Farmville etc don't seem to work, but FB/Zinga, being the good little iPhone fanboys they are have made a special version of FV for iPhone.
Other things like Superpoke and a lot of the silly gifting apps work OK.

Here's a neat trick that I don't think even iPhone or Android users can do. I admin on a messageboard and when something needs doing, i.e banning members, moving/merging posts, adding smilies and other features, I can just log in, go to the full admin panel and beaver away with no problems.

Keep the phone and dump the mates...

Seriously if they are that shallow that they seriously mock you because your phone does not show the main facebook web page correctly, then they have some issues they should work through. And you should man up ;-) and bounce the crap phone stuff back onto them.

Anyway since when could the iphone even open the full-fat FB site?

The difference: Androig & iOS runs apps, they are app-launchers and noting much more. N900 runs applications. Maemo is an operating system, N900 is more of a netbook than a phone. And if this doesnt give you the warm fuzzy feeling, just open 30 applications at the same time, then start playing Angry Birds, and lets see, if any of them can do the same. Heck, even 7 would be more than either of them can handle

if you have user agent set to stock, you get fb photos with cr@ppy new overlay. if you set agent to:

mozilla/5.0 (windows; u; windows nt 5.1; en-GB)

then photos display as they used to hfor me anywayj

you're talking about the annoying black-pop-up-window-kind-of-type-of-thing when viewing pictures? what i do is just open the link to the picture on a new window, no overlay, works all the time
