Anyhow i am off to lunch.
I correct the "wrong things" part to "false statements" if you understand that better.
But if "they" (you) are constantly in the mood to question facts given by both official Nokians and insider, post false statements regarding these facts, it is not funny anymore.

I will clarify this particular case a last time:

The leaked firmware is not the same firmware installed on the recently launched devices in HongKong.
As I stated earlier in this very thread it is a different branch-line, because the chinese software differs a lot from the european or american one. The HongKong firmware is based on PR 1.2 (as the leaked one) but on an early version (like the leaked one is an early version).
The leaked one is nowhere near alpha status of the finished PR 1.2, so you can expect a lot more from the finished one.
If the leaked one appeared first on a chinese site doesn't matter. It is not the same. You stated it would be the same.
You said, that many users here are jealous, because they couldn't develop a firmware like that.
That's again wrong, Mr. Sir Engineer. They (we) are in fact very happy to see such a progress, because they (we) stated, that Nokia has not abandoned the N900 and now they (we) are confirmed in their (our) statement.
In fact we are happy, too, if this firmware auments the usefulness of your N900 for you. But we want to warn relatively unexperienced users, that they should wait for the official firmware (the firmware to be released, when Nokia thinks it is ready) to avoid problems.
Also we have the ethic moral to question the action taken by the person who has leaked this piece of software, because to decide when something is ready to be released has nothing to do with openess.
You don't need to have the same opinion, but you shouldn't tell everyone that this leaked firmware is 100% safe (which it is not!).
We said it could be a modified one. We don't know, but it could be, the possiblility is there. So be careful.

I hope this clarifies something for you.

Everything else is mostly speculation.
  • We don't know when it left nokia.
  • We don't know how long it took to get to the chinese website
  • We don't know if it changed hands between Nokia and the website
  • We don't know if it's version number is it's true version number or copied from HK N900 release number

Is it right to slam those who installed it?
No, the beauty of the N900 is it's openness the last thing we want to do is crack down on that. However those that do install it need to understand responsibility of their actions and try not to blame others if things don't go so well.

Is it right to slam those who warned against installing it?
No, as I said above we don't know where it's been and what it contains. It would be irresponsible of the community not to provide warnings.

Should those who warned against installing then gloat when someone reports problems with it?
Of course not, that's just petty and doesn't help. If you don't have anything useful to say then don't.

Should people claim that this firmware is 100% safe?
Of course not, because unless they are from Nokia or responsible for the leak they don't really know.

Disclaimer: I've not installed the firmware as personally I would only want to install something officially from Nokia, however I've read with interest the new features and bug fixes that have been reported by those who did install and eagerly await an offical release.
This is the first post i actually 100% agree with you on and the only thing i can say is THANKYOU for being honest !.

The problem with you zehjotkah is you take things way way too seriously and fail to remember that the talk goes with the swing of the moods on the thread at that particular time.
Lighten up and stop being so dammm dramatic and serious will you because we are not robots and usually spontanious cos of that very fact.
WHEN you find out where the leaked fw came from then you can talk so untill then stop the seriousness ok.
The reason i said its 100% safe is simply because i know something you dont.
Ok enough said so from now on lighten up !.

Did the voices in your head tell you something we don't know? If you have information, present it with proof and I am sure people will sing your praises. Until you do so all we have is the word of a bloke who, quite frankly, comes off in several threads as batshit crazy.

Given you agreed 100% with what I said above that would mean you are:

a) an employee of Nokia or
b) responsible for the leaked firmware.

Perhaps you wish to rephrase

some humans are serious, others are childish. I prefer to be serious, it gives me huge advantages at my daily work. So that's not a problem, but different peronalities.
Give me an example, where I was dramatic, Mr. Sir Engineer.
I know where the firmware is from, therefore I warn to not use it.
I doubt your last statement.
