Thanks for the prompt response!
I've done exactly that -- deleted all pairings on both the n900 and the macbook. I fire up BlueMaemo and choose "Establish connection" and it seemingly properly pairs the devices. From the mac, I can see the additional Bluez HID mouse & keyboard profile and at first it says both paired AND connected. On the n900, BlueMaemo remains on the initial screen with the three options: Wait for connection, Reconnect, Establish Connection. After a minute or so, the mac connection breaks but the pairing remains and BlueMaemo remains on that same initial screen. Any ideas?

It's great and very useful so far! One feature that I'd love to see is auto-connect on start. And I'm sure you're already working on it, but the hardware keyboard would be the preferred method of input in many circmstances. Keep up the good work!

hi, I've been using bluemaemo on windows 7 with my n900. The mouse and virtual keyboard work great, however, the hardware keyboard does not seem to work. I don't see any settings regarding this. Is this currently a bug?
