Using the paks from http://ioquake3.org/patch-data/ fixed my "expected version 6" problems. This download is just a zip file, so doesn't require a Windows PC / installing.

Dono if it's worth startin a new thread for this but I havent installed quake nor any other FPS games on my n900 so wouldn't know much, was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how one would best setup a cotrol system for this type of game on the n900.

A while ago I had a go at cod on the iphone, it uses the touchsreen providing for two virtual sticks, obviously the n900 would not support dual touch but is there perhaps another way? was just wondering on peoples thoughts as using the motion sensor is lame and the keyboard is just too cramped...

Ideas?

there doesn't seem to be a significant performance hit in 800x480 compared to 640x480, looks great, sufficient framerate. i view some osp/cpma demos in it now and then.

Hi everybody! I just wanted to thank you all for your help!

I've sucessfully installed the game and it runs ( with default graphics at 15fps ) but it's still great,

I've just not understood why I'm still running but for sure it's something that I've not read yet on this thread :P

thanks again!

The analog sticks of Dualshock 3 don't work in Quake 3, what to change in the config file?

I keep seeing an update for Q3 in the app manager. Is this updated version a fixed version after the last updated version that caused the mouse cursor/touchscreen to become unresponsive and for the decrease in framerate? The developer said that he would fix the package once he got back from vacation....that was about a month ago.

Can anyone confirm that this is a new update and not just the old update that some have refused to install due to performance and UI issues?

this is still that version which was meant to enable mods in Quake 3.

It is still not fixed

I want to use Q3 on n900 only to watch CPMA demos. Previous version was working much faster and had GUI usabe with stylus, so I would like to downgrade until fixes are released. I have tried to get .deb for previous version from repository but it is already deleted.

If you know how to downgrade, please drop some hints here.

Overclocking to 900 MHz gives quake nice boost in framerate. I only checked it with one demo played on map CPM15. On 600 MHz it does 25.4 fps. Overclocked to 900 does 33.7 fps.

Initially I had problem launching CPMA mod. It just crashed when I tried to changed mod from menu. But it works when supplying arguments to command line in terminal like this (cpma here is directory name with mod) :

ioquake3.arm +set fs_game cpma

Just to let you all know....

Running South Park map with Homer in 3rd person is running smoother as ever on the Tital LV overclocked N900.

Hunkmegs set to 256 and now it runs smooth as a knife through butter
