Wrong wrong wrong and wrong again. I have had EDoF for 1 1/2 month now. Normal pictures in daylight is good. Video is excellent. Macro is impossible, even (semi) close ups are difficult with dirt poor quality.

99% of the users will definitely not be happy with EDoF. What is correct is that for 99% of the usage, 100% of the users will be happy. For 1% of the usage (assuming macro and close ups to be 1%), then 0% will be happy.

That 1% is more than enough to upset the 99% where it is OK. That happens maybe once a week, or once every other week, it doesn't matter. Every time it happens you think, this is a piece of utter **** and want to throw it out the window. You cannot rely on the camera to do its normal camera job, and that is far from good enough.

Yeah, most people with cameraphones don't care about macro shots. Try again.

I'm pretty sure there are still those who do.

Yeah, but if the vast majority of your customers aren't taking macros, does it make sense to support it just because a vocal minority on the internet wants something different?

Says who?
My father was buying C7 before i explained him that you can't really take close ups of documents. So he ended buying GS.

Most people do macroshots and anyways it's not even about how many takes them when you are simply talking about crappier cameras. Nokia has been able to get af cameras before on it's ~200 euros phones so why not now?
It's just cheapness that nobody should defend no matter how much you like the brand.

Well at least it didn't happen earlier. Now I am seriously thinking about getting a galaxy 2 instead of the N9, bigger screen, faster cpu, 100 bucks cheaper...very tempting...I must resist.
Buy it and get dissapointed...

They are shaping up now, but previous software teams have failed miserably due to poor (non existent) technical leadership. Hardware is good, but if there is one thing that has killed off Symbian^3 devices it is EDoF. To put EDoF on, not one but a whole series of top end smartphones, is a brain dead act of epic proportions.
Elop, and the rest of the board, good for Nokia? I disagree.

But one thing I am 100% sure he is NOT good for the open source at Nokia.

* He is NOT good for N9
* He is not good for Linux/QT/Meego
* He and Microsoft is not even good for Android the sueing of HTC/Samsung and other will soon start the same way as Microsoft and Apple is doing it now.
* I am not even sure he is good for S40

And thats what you call cleanup the mess inside Nokia? No, MrFlop is just helping Microsoft.

Until they proves I am wrong.. I disagree...

The only good for Nokia seems to be Nokia Sweden....

Technically that bug/vulnerability exists on the carrier's side.
