*LOL*. then please don't power up your device (yes, it creates heat), or even safer, leave it at the shop.

Ok I will provide some more detailed information to try and make you guys understand a little more.
When you overclock you drain the battery even quicker than usual, that generates heat as the battery itself will heat up more than usual, now we all know that heat travels up not down and as the battery is indeed under everything it generates excess heat more than the norm so as the cpu is already getting hot it will just get hotter.
The main board of the N900 i can tell you is about as flimsy as they get on mobile phones and as the case is plastic the heat will start to distort everything in time.
Remember i told you my board has changed color and that is a clear indication of NORMAL use all be it 24/7.
If you put all the factors together then add the fact there is NO ventilation at all in the N900 apart from tiny gaps in the keyboard then you will realise it has no where to go.
All i am saying is please make a few simple mods that will make the heat less of a problem allowing the device to live a lot longer than it would do if you do nothing at all overclocking.
Remember its all surface mount we got here and they don't take too kindly to excessive heat.
Put some metal on the cpu and drill a few tiny holes either side of the case and you will allow the heat to disperse much better.
The N900 is obviously going to be a dammm good tool and eventually do a lot lot more than it is at the moment with ongoing development so why not give it some extra life and a fighting chance?.

i think abill_uk can put his views forward without being attacked surely?! hes experienced these heat problems without O/C and to mention them is probably a good idea! regardless of whether he is technically correct with the extra heat produced with undervolting etc, im not one to comment. From what i can see hes just making his point known and is offering to help us overclockers by designing a mod. No harm in that is there?!

Personally i have my device oc'd to 250-1000MHz with titans xlv settings and haven't experienced any extra heat. Baring in mind i just use my n900 for short quick texts, internet browsing etc and dont run a constantly heavy load.

While on the subject of heat though. I have noticed the n900 get VERY hot on long phone calls (1hr+) when charging - yes the girlfriend lol, but the device locks to 600Mhz during phone calls, and with the undervoltage i wasn't expecting this. I beleive the n900 has always done it even pre o/c, but yeah... just wondering if others experience similar things?

The reason the phone gets hot during long calls is simple to explain, the rf generated is indeed at microwave level (frequency) and as your using the devices rf components they always the hottest apart from the cpu (this one is debatable lol) it will indeed get very hot.

Aha now you getting into another problem and that has now i believe been thoroughly been proved conclusive that mobile's do indeed cause bone damage to the middle ears.
But anyhow just something else to add, remember the N900is designed to run at 600mhz so therefore the capacitors are worked out by CAD to be of a correct value for the cpu set frquency and there is yet another heat problem because the current being drawn by the components does increase and that alone heats up the caps even more than usual under an overclock situation.
If the cpu holds out then you still got cap probs to get over lol.
But we will not go into dry joints shall we lol.
All in all its a must to create some ventilation if you want your device to last under this situation.
Your biggest problem is current drain = heat.

Well, I hope you have at least read the Wiki Overclocking information, haven't you? It is extremely useful.

Could someone find out is this excessive heat speeding up global warming? Because that would be bad
