Shat, another bricking installing in maemo. Boots, nokia logo and powers off and the battery should be full. First bricking was my falut back when rnd mode was disabled. If anyone knows what do do here without another hard reset I would be grateful.

Main note on that error, any plans with the installation going foward? Stick with installing on N900? Use of a script? Go back to PC with linux? WinPC with .exe to do all the lifting?

And seeing the release is a radio, power managment and UI tweaks (add buttons on screen to make up for the lack of hard buttons on N900 etc) what is the plan going foward? Is NITDroid going to be developed into a real choice of OS? Expanded to other nokias (N8 N9 E7)?

Ok, I've copied the fiasco image (zImage-fb-omap.bin) to /boot/multiboot/ and renamed it to vmlinuz-2.6.28-framebuffer1

My Fedora.item looks like this now:
Code:
ITEM_NAME="Fedora 12 on SD p4"
ITEM_KERNEL=2.6.28-framebuffer1
ITEM_MODULES=ext3 mbcache jbd
ITEM_DEVICE=${EXT_CARD}p4
ITEM_FSTYPE=ext3
ITEM_FSOPTIONS=noatime,rw
But it's still the same. Just returns to the main menu.

This is the contents of my /boot/multiboot directory:

Code:
Nokia-N900:/boot/multiboot# ls -l
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root      1764904 Jan  1  2009 vmlinuz-2.6.28-fedora
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root      1746048 Jul 19 16:38 vmlinuz-2.6.28-omap1
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root      1832704 Jul 21 18:14 vmlinuz-2.6.28.10power37
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root      1743284 Jul 21 11:30 vmlinuz-2.6.28.NIT.05
Nokia-N900:/boot/multiboot#
I have NITdroid, Power Kernel and the default kernel booting happily, just Fedora won't boot... *scratches head*

From the looks of it, the kernel you are trying to use is vmlinuz-2.6.28-fedora so your multiboot item should be

Code:
ITEM_NAME="Fedora 12 on SD p4"
ITEM_KERNEL=vmlinuz-2.6.28-fedora
ITEM_MODULES=ext3 mbcache jbd
ITEM_DEVICE=${EXT_CARD}p4
ITEM_FSTYPE=ext3
ITEM_FSOPTIONS=noatime,rw
E: This really should not be in the announcement thread!

thats all. after 30sec N900 reboots again, there was nothing to choose

i think i made something wrong ...
