I find advocating mugging and robbery rather questionable, whether I like or even know the victim or not. Two wrongs do not a right make.

Was yesterday a good day? Yes and no. On a personal level, I solved one problem at work and the solution turned out to be simpler than expected. On the other hand, out of all the bad options to choose from, our PM wants to sort out of this mess by choosing the worst one: to leave the single market. And mow she also wants to absolve the UK from the European Convention on Human Rights. Wonderful!

Today was pretty decent until my son phoned me and told that his bicycle had been stolen from the railway station during the day.

Again!

It's bloody 6 months to the day exactly since the bike before this one was stolen. God I hate those petty thieves... [1]

Why do they bother, I get the reason the first one was stolen as it was a brand new bike that cost just tad under 1000 euros, but this other one...
I bought it as a replacement from Police Auction for 150 euros when the first was a goner, used but good condition and with premium parts...

Clearly somebody has had too much time, since the bike was locked to a metal post with a cable lock, and the lock had been cut with some kind of pliers or something and it must have taken a LONG time to do that...

That does not sound like the Finland I know. My first impression of Finland was from a radio interview with someone who travelled there decades ago. He was traveling by car with a Finnish friend, carrying a load of supplies including a few spare canisters of petrol. At one point, the friend stopped the car and unloaded two canisters at the side of the road, with the comment, "No point carrying them, we will collect them on the way back". Our guy was rather taken aback. "Won't someone take them?", he asked. Now it was the Finnish friend's turn to be surprised. "Why would anyone take them? It's my petrol."

On the other hand, the only company in the world that swindled me out of €500 and got away with it was a car rental establishment... in Helsinki!
